4 inches long 291-5 grams non magnetic,non corrosive dark like a gun barrel appeared to be casted then hand tooled. no markings. scratched metal seems to be brass . don't know if brass would color that dark.
 
I'll throw one out there...

It's a handle to something...but what?
 
More pics would be good.
 
A side view would be good. If it has an end that gets thin and has a curve it may be a stove lid lifter. The old wood stoves had round holes that you could lift out by inserting a lifter. That is what brass of that age ends up looking like.
