Help with picking out the 'Right' detector.

Hello - all. I've been metal detecting off and on for many years and recently got back into the 'swing' of things. I am now interested in trying my hand at beach/water detecting. My beach/water work will be 95% freshwater as I am land-locked in the middle of the mid-west.

Without spending a fortune, what is a good middle-of-the-road detector better geared for freshwater conditions? I am not opposed to purchasing used so any ideas in older detectors would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I picked up a Fisher 1280-X w/ 10 1/2" coil as there are still some around with the lifetime warranty. This is a very good freshwater machine for around $ 665.00 brand new. Also you have the Detector Pro Wader and or Diver which are also good machines. Hope this helps. Chet
