help with the fisher f70 at night time

Does anyone have any ideas how i can use my fisher f70 at night. It doesn't have a backlight so i cant use the id numbers i thought about a torch but i don't want to light up the place plus its quite hard using both at the same time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I always figured one of those hat lights was the way to go. One that clips on brim of a baseball hat or one that is built into a hat. Plenty of light without a big flood of light. I heard of one guy who wired a small led light with its on battery and then taped it onto the case. I went with the clip on it was directional and you could control the light focus and size.
I had the same problem, but have upgraded to an F75. Let us know what you try and if you are happy with it.

HH, Don

you didn't say what you're hunting for. if i'm just hunting for coins i just up the disc. and dig every signal

If you used tone id you could skip looking at the meter altogether and just light up the ground with a small flashlite tied to your middle rod pointing at the ground. The hat idea is very good. I have a friend that has a ball cap with two led lights in the brim that work pretty good.

You might want to go with red lights so as not to ruin your night vision. I use a red light with my telescope when I'm dark site observing and it makes quite a difference.

OK, so on what public land are you hunting at night so as to avoid detection??? Don't forget to carry a claw hammer to remove the "NO TRESPASSING" and "NO ARTIFACT REMOVAL" signs.

Sometimes night hunting is all that a guy has time for. I know that metal detecting won out over some of my other hobbies because I could do it at night. My work schedule was making day light hunting impossible. Late evening was the only time I had available. This isn't a post about illegal hunting, that would be more about how do you disable the light on an F75. I honestly have heard people ask that question and for the very reason that was mentioned in the claw hammer post.

thank for the reply i will try the hat light i will let u know how i get on. I do work all week so i only have time at night to detect I'm not doing illegal detecting but when yr on yr own you don't know who's about and don't want the attention of others when you concentrating detecting. I will put the disc up aswell but I'm new to f70 and just want to get to know it better . Thank for all the replys I'm very grateful from a fisher enthusiast

I made inner backlite in my F70. A couple of hours to do it photos.

Looks great. I agree with martinfabio. Is there any way you can provide a material list and brief instructions? It would make a great project over the winter months:clapping:

Hi Martin, I have tried SEVERAL HEADBAND Systems over the yrs., and the BEST ONE that I have found is the ENERGIZER One with I believe 5-Light
Settings, they are sold at ALOT of different stores for approx. $15.00, and they have a LIFETIME GUARANTEE!! That combo has a REDLIGHT
Setting for its !st Setting!! ENERGIZER also makes a 3-LIGHTS SETTING Headband for less than $15.00, and it also has a LIFETIME WARR.
HOPE THIS HELPS, HH, Les Robinson
