Here are the finds I found running around this weekend. It sure was a cooker on Saturday and Sunday wasn't much better. It was in the 90's and humid. I think I could have found more but when it is this hot, it is hard to concentrate on what you are listening for and also the heat wears a person out. I didn't do too bad and I am glad with what I was able to recover. I am just happy that I let Chris find another Key Date Coin on Saturday to add to his collection back home!:poke::please: I hope to hook up with him either this Fall if he returns or if I am able, maybe Dale and I can take a road trip to Wisconsin and see if we can't find a Large Cent or some Seated Coins.:bouncy: Here is what I found. I ended this weekend with 8 Silver. I found yet another No-Date Standing Liberty Quarter, 3 Mercury Dimes dated 1942-d, and (2)1944, along with 4 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1946,1951,1963-d, and 1964-d. When I got home I knew that there is a 2 over 1 Error for the 1942-d Merc Dime and I thought I would wash it off and check it with my 16X Loop. After a quick wash off, I noticed that the Date wasn't as clear as it should have been. I then got the Loop out and when I looked at the Date Area, I found out that it was a Double Die Error. Liberty has Doubling along with the Mercury Head of the Coin. This is not the 2 over 1 Variety but a Double Die of a 1942-d Merc. Now I would like to find out if this makes the Coin worth more than an average Dime. I will have to try and see if Rick(ND) can get a Pic of this Date Area and other parts since I cannot get the Pics Sharp enough to see. Now onto the other finds. I also found 2 Nickels which were a 1906 Liberty V-Nickel and a 1916 Buffalo Nickel. The V-Nickel is in nice shape which is a Rarity to find coming from the dirt. I also found an 1885 Indian Head Cent that has seen better days but I will take it none the less. Another 12 Wheat Pennies were recovered dated 1919-s,1925,1935,1942,1942-d,(2)1944-d,1948-d,1950-d,1954-d,1955-d, and 1957-d. Also another 1959-d Memorial Cent. For Jewelery, I found a nice .925 Silver Ring that has a Heart Shaped Clear Blue Stone in the center with 4 Blackish Silver Stones on each side of the center Stone. I also found an Old Copper Ring that once was Silver Plated that reads "When Do We Eat" with a small Chicken and a ? on it. There were also 2 Buckles that I found but they didn't have anything Ornate about them so I figured I would leave those out. That about does it and I will try and get some Pics of the Merc during the week so you all can see. Enjoy, and Good Luck and HH to you all! (That also includes you Chris(SoCenWI)):poke::thumbup: [attachment 60950 Silver.jpg][attachment 60977 Nickels.jpg][attachment 60980 IndianHead.jpg][attachment 60982 Cents.jpg][attachment 60978 Rings.jpg]

Thanks for the bite to eat at the Bar on Saturday and it was good to see you and get out and do some detecting even though it was a scorcher outside. When you get back home, I hope you find some good Construction Sites that yield a few nice Old Coins. Thanks for the reply. Hope you have a safe trip home, Good Luck and HH where ever you are detecting.

The real treasures were getting out and spending some time with Chris(SoCenWI) on Saturday. That more than replaces any kind of Finds that I could have made on Saturday. Good Luck and HH.

I wonder if a guy put flashlights on you shoes if you could hunt at night and stay cooler.I hunt like we do on roofs daylight and right before dark.I never hunted after dark.Nice finds and good luck.

If you want more company when you hit Wisconsin let me know, I live in south central WI and would like the opportunity to learn.

That's what I call a nice haul James.........:) Makes we wish now that my detecting buddy and I would have kept a couple of places that we found to ourselves instead of sharing with our whole detecting club. Selfish? Not!!!! Those kind of places you just don't find every day and if I ever find anymore it will be kept a secret.......:) Again, nice finds James and best of luck on your nest outing. HH.

but it sure is fun having someone along that is having as much fun as you. Then at the end of the day, you can see who got what and be glad that it was you or someone you know that got the finds from these sites. There is a lot of sites I go to that should have yielded a lot of good items but there is fewer and fewer Keepers at some of them, which makes me wonder just who was out detecting this site and what were they finding. But you are right Eddie, it is always nice to keep some sites a secret so you have a place to go and make some great finds. Thanks again, Good Luck and HH to you.

I would love to hook up with you also and show you a few things with the Explorer and what some of those Iffy Targets that are Keepers sound like when they are 10"+ Deep. It is always fun giving advice to new people in person and a new friendship is then made. This is even better than finding a piece of Silver in my book. If I make it out that way, I will make sure to PM you and see if we can't meet up somewhere to detect. Thanks again and Good Luck and HH to you.

When it is that hot out, all one thinks about is the Heat and their Thirst! And I know that when this happens, one tends to pass up those Deeper Iffy Signals due to a little more Cherry Picking for the better signals so you can get what ever the amount you set out to find and call it a day after you have met your Quota! Thanks again. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

If you had any kind of light source at night, it wouldn't help you out that much. Reason is the word "MOSQUITOES"!!! Also most likely Moths! As for being Cooler outside at night, that is very doubtful also. The reason for this would be because of those pesky Mosquitoes flying in your face, buzzing next to your ears, finding spots to irritate you even more by biting you because no Insect Repellent can repel a Hungry Insect, and the RAGE one would get from all of the above would make for one very angry detectorist.:veryangry: Temperature outside would be cooler but Patience would go off the deep end after awhile leading to one overheating.:rage::rant: So sometimes it is a Loose-Loose Situation.:throw: Good Luck and HH!

If it goes back to the great depression and the slogan "A Chicken in Every Pot" came from the president back then?

Your finds are great!

You use stock coil?

Tony

I know I have seen this Ring or similar item somewhere else but cannot place it. I do know that it is old since it was in a School Yard and was about 7"-8" Deep. Only time I don't use the Stock Coil is when I am in Trashy Conditions, then I break out the 5 X 10 Joey Coil. Good Luck and HH Tony!
