I found it in a local lake and was supprised at what it turned out to be

Royal,
Seeing that reminds me of when I was little and use to "help" Grandpa buzz up wood for the winter. The buzz saw was connected to his old John Deere with a long wide belt made of leather. How that long belt never flew off those pulleys was a miracle to me.
The blade on that saw must have been at least 3' in dia, you would lay the logs on a tilting table arrangement which fed them into the blade and cut them at whatever length you wanted for cordwood.
One time on the way out to the wood lot my brother and I were riding in the wagon behind that old John Deere when the wagon came loose and went rolling down an incline in the barnyard and right thru a gate. My brother who was older than me had the sense to jump off before it hit the gate but I froze and took the wild ride thru. Fortunately that wagon held up and I was not hurt.
After he got the tractor turned around and back down into the barnyard grandpa came up and said "don't tell you grandma about this". Grandpa was close to six foot tall but Grandma at 4' 11" ruled the roost. She made the best homemade bread and cookies I ever ate.

Is it a advertising flask for a co that made conveyor belts?

There was a one man sawmill a couple blocks from us and the owners sons were friends of mine.
Old Man Coulter was the meanest man I ever knew as a child but I sure remember watching him run the mill. It was all belt driven from a centeral source, I can not remember what the heck it was.
You sound like you just might have a story or two in you. We sure would like to have you join us on the story forum, if you care to share some

Ah the old days. Ever dangle a fly off a flyrod in front of a frog? Man they got long tongues.

Belt Lacing Glue for leather machinery belts? I've seen several different methods of lacing and tying from back before they even used glue. I bought a set of Popular Mechanics Shop Notes from 1905 thru 1914. Man, what an interesting read! I just wish I could find the rest of the years!
Great Find Royal!

It is a cigarette lighter all right. It was filled with lighter fluid. The part you take out is filled with cotten and this in turn is saturated with the fluid from the main part.
Out the tip of the "Match" is a iron tip which is then struck on a flint strip on the side of the main body(that will be in the second picture)a spark was genterated and lit the wick in the match.
It is pretty neat and simple.
I have no clue to its age or value but it is a fun item

Thought this was some kind of perfume but could'nt figure out the groove up the side. Got it this fall in an area that turns up mostly WW1 stuff. Just took out the mechanism for the first time. Old lighter fluid stinks! Lousy pic
