HERE"S AN ENGLISH TECTOR I FIELD TESTED SOME YEARS BACK. EVER SEE ONE?..

Uncle Willy

New member
This puppy was a computer on a stick and quite a machine. My field test is over at losttreasure.com under Newforce R1. The president of the company was here in Oregon on business and stopped by to see me on the way to the airport and back to England and we had an interesting chat. I showed him a few of Garrett's models including the then new 2500.

Oh yeah, I remember when that one came out. I've never actually seen one, but I recall reading your article and thinking it seemed pretty cool. I think they're still in wide use across the pond. Neat add. Thanks for sharing.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

From looking at it features, it looks like it'd be a great little unit. I wonder if the DC sensitvity is that same as on the XLT. That's a feature I found to be quite handy, and in a luight weight unit.
Mick Evans.

Bill, I know you talk a lot about the 100 khz Compass detectors. I saw this Hayes Electronics Mark I a couple of years ago and started to get one since they worked so well in iron-being around 98 Khz. Well, today I was at a garage sale and picked this one up for $15-the guy wouldn't go any lower. Can you believe the thing even had a slight tone on a fine gold chain! I found one of those safety clips that locks into a trailer hitch and it wouldn't pick it up, but picked up a small piece of foil beneath it! I can't wait to get my first real hunt with it.

You'll have fun with that puppy, especially on small gold items. That was a good buy. Let us know how you do with it. I've got some pics of those somewhere. Does it have a widescan coil ( DD ).

Nah I found someone who needed it worse than I did. :) If I kept every tector I ever tested I'd be floating in them.

Could be. It was a lot like the gain on the Fisher F5 and White's new Vision. It also had ground radar display. Tomorrow I'll post some graphs of the screen showing features. It also came with two coils.
