[attachment 51368 CapeNeddick029.jpg] The park is located in Portsmouth N.H.,right next to the Rte 1 by-pass road. I have driven by a 1000 times, and never had time to stop.A few times, the Honey-pie was with me,as i flew by.I know better than to waste my time, asking is she would like to see it!:D Well i MADE it a point to visit and explore, after snooping around, and hunting in some antique stores Sunday. Snooping alone is great,no rushing,no hurry to git home.Enough with the bull!:D A little background: Keel laid 1952,Launched 1953,from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She was built to be streamlined, which had become the standard for Subs. She was not built to fight, her mission was strictly experimental! She was the fastest, and most maneuverable sub of her day.She was a floating laboratory, testing control systems, escape mechanisms,Sonar systems etc.Never had a weapon on her.Retired in 1972,sitting for ten yrs,in Philly, and then two yrs of paperwork, meetings, she was towed to N.H. In 1985,weighing 1200 tons, dismantling a railroad bridge, cutting a trench through a 4 lane roadway, she was floated where she is now displayed.[attachment 51372 CapeNeddick103.jpg]Here we have the Bow shot! I will always get a Bow shot, when ever possible. Its like eyeballing the women,Bow shot, then end at the Stern!!:D [attachment 51372 CapeNeddick103.jpg][attachment 51373 CapeNeddick105.jpg] She is 205 ft in length,27 foot beam, propulsion was diesel/electric,complement of 50 enlisted,5 officers. Could exceed 25knots,and dive in excess of 400 feet.[attachment 51375 CapeNeddick032.jpg][attachment 51376 CapeNeddick030.jpg]It appears the wings swivel for maneuvering. Here is where she was built..Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.[attachment 51377 CapeNeddick005.jpg] RJ

Or the next guy, would get an unwanted shower!![attachment 51390 CapeNeddick054.jpg] And i almost forgot this..UP PERISCOPE! :D Everybody reading this has heard those words before![attachment 51391 CapeNeddick066.jpg]
