Here's a CZ technique which will get you more of the deep ones....especially Nickels and relics.

When I talk about the CZ, I'm talking about the 3 tone models. This method was independently discovered by my good late friend Norm G. and myself.

Have you ever noticed the some good targets give off an iron tone in the ground? That's because those targets are either too small, too deep, or on edge.

Make no mistake about it, if you're just relying on the three tone system to dig, you're leaving good stuff in the ground.

Here it is...next time you get a medium strength iron tone, whip the coil across it 5-6 times. If the tone changes to a pull tab tone, even once then DIG!!!! One of the coolest features of the CZ is that it won't.let me repeat, it absolutely won't give a false pull tab tone when the target is iron. By whipping the coil you actually slightly increase the discrimination depth of the CZ.

Remember, you get a medium strength iron tone, whip the coil across it and even one medium tone will tell you to dig.

This technique will also get you many coins on edge, which the CZ, unfortunately, tends ti ID as iron.

I've used this method to find coins in areas which were considered 'hunted out' and it produced for me. Let me know how you do!!!

I used to set the sensitivity as high as I could. It was my experience that outside electrical interference was the main determinant of how high my sensitivity was as opposed to the type of soil.

Regarding discrimination, it had to be set at '0' in order to hear all three tones.

I actually used the CZ-20 with this method to find many old Nickels which initially registered as iron.

The technique is based on the fact that the CZ will NEVER false on iron with a mid tone. If you get a mid tone then there's a good reason for it.

If the CZ70 has the same iron dicrimination then I would think it would work.
