Well, did my last hunt yesterday and head back to Iraq on Friday morning. I managed to get out 3 times with BillyDaBeeg and did OK. I just posted everything since the picture represents my hunt total for 2005. I won't be swinging a coil (except for looking for mines ) until spring 2006. the 1923 Michigan Chauffeur License badge and 2 Wheaties were found in a yard and the rest was from parks.
in the pic is:
a 1950-D Rosie
2 Mercs (1917 & 1917-S)
3 IH's (1883, 1892, 1895)
2 V Nickels (1897 & 1911)
1 Buff (1929)
15 Wheaties (2 x 1910, 1911, 1912, 1917, 1918-D, 1919-S, 1920, 2 x 1929, 2 x 1939, 1940, 1946-D, and 1955-D)
$1.72 in clad
2 junk rings
1 smooshed silver ring
an unfired .38 round
a token from International Harvester marking the centennial of the McCormick Reaper (1831-1931)
an advertising pocketknife (can opener?)
a 1923 Michigan Chauffeur License badge
Anyway, that's my grand total for 2005.
I'll drop a post when I get back to Iraq. I hope everyone does well this season. Be sure and keep posting the good stuff because I have to live my MDing hobby vicariously the rest of the year through pics of your finds

for putting your life on the line for freedom...I know I take it for granted some times...
Is that a commemorative coin with Grant? or somebody on it. If it is when you get back I'd love to trade for it. johny mc.

Don't stick your head out to see who is shooting!
Take care so you come back to detect again.
A sincere thank you from all of us here who can detect without getting shot at.
Joe.

From one member of the Armed Forces (USAF) to the other, Thanks and be safe! Nice finds too.

Sgt Ski, Good finds! I'm Air Force so I was there for a short tour, posted with MNSTC-I Baghdad, then 1st ID in Tikrit. Our office was right next to a crusades era christian church. A mosque was built on top of it but the original entrances were visible. I almost had the wife ship a detector there for me, but as you know, no time for fun.
Hang in there- Maybe I'll run into you in August (my next visit, hehe)
Jim

We would not even be able to metal detect in a country unless it were as free as ours. Think of it, if you got out and started detecting in Russia, some parts of Europe, most parts of South America and all of the Middle East, you would be either shot, arrested or beat up. So thanks for serving our country. We love our FREEDOM....

Sgt. Ski,
Great finds and THANK YOU for your service to our country!

Hey SGT,
What part of Iraq are you going back to, what is your MOS, and how much longer do you have left on you tour.
I am an MP in the National Guard, did my tour from 4/2003 to 4/2004. I'm looking at a possible round two in a few months but might have too many high tempo day to go back so soon.
Iraq can be a bitch in the warm months, hope you are near the end of your tour. Please write back, depending on where you are I might be able to help in some way. I still have a few friends over there especially in the green zone and Scannia. Good luck to you, enjoy your remaining time at home.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
SFC Tom Chad
