Here's another load of goodies from last Sunday's Hunt. Enjoy!

Hello once again fellow treasure hunters! Back with yet another round of finds from my last hunt. I would like to start off by saying that the first 2 pics are from an hour hunt on last Thursday Evening. I figured I would post them as well, even though no Silver was found. These finds consisted of 1 Indian Head dated 1905 and 6 Wheats dated 1936-d,1937,(2)1941-d,1944, and 1945-d. 4 of these Wheats came from 1 hole. Now with that said, let's get to the Sunday's Finds.

Sunday, Dale, Tim and I decided to get out and do some detecting since both Dale and Tim were tied up doing other things on Saturday. We did fairly well on Sunday. We hunted a few different spots consisting of a couple different Parks, a Ball Diamond and a Fairgrounds. Almost every site we tried we were able to scrounge up something old so we have a few more spots to detect at now that will give up some keepers when needed. Tim was off to a great start early, with his first coin being a No Date Standing Liberty Quarter within minutes of just starting. He then went onto finding Wheats and the usual Silver. He did well with 4 Barber Dimes, a Silver Quarter, a few Merc's, and a few Silver Rosie's. He also found one heck of a find early in the hunt that morning, one which blew away any chance for me or Dale to match. Tim told me that he had gotten a Wheat Penny Signal and dug the target. Once found, he went over the hole and got a 47-01 on his E-Trac. He told me that usually this will be a hot rock but since the Penny was found in that hole, he decided to investigate further and see what the item was. He dug down and at 12"-14", he saw what it was. It was Silver! First, he thought it was a Half but was soon rewarded with the find of the day. An 1882-s Morgan Silver Dollar!!! A little later, he walked over to me and was smiling about something. I asked him what he found and he told me that I wouldn't believe what he just found. I immediately said a Half but he said that wasn't it. I then knew what he must have found and I really was hoping for him to tell me different but it didn't happen this time. He replied back,"an 1882-s Silver Dollar". Immediately, I told him that he was a Lucky $@&!%$ and then told him later, "just watch, now you will find a Half and then you will have all the Big Silver". About an hour or so later, that is exactly what happened. He yells over from a different site that we visited that he has just dug a Walker. Again, I complimented him like before, with Tim only smiling and laughing, knowing that he was kickin' Dale's and my butt pretty good on finds. By the end of the day, Tim had found 1 Silver Dollar, a Walker, a Standing Liberty Quarter, a Silver Washington Quarter, 4 Barber Dimes, a few Merc's and Rosie's totaling 13 Silver for the day. He also found a few Indian Heads, a few Wheats, and a Silver Ring.

Dale found only 3 Silver, them being 1 Silver Washington Quarter, 1 Merc and 1 Rosie. He also found a few Indian Heads and some Wheats along with a Buffalo Nickel and a Good For 5c In Trade Token. He also dug a pin from Class of 1977. He may have had other finds but I don't recall if he did or not. For some odd reason, it was an off day for Dale in the Silver Finds category. Usually, he has just as many and sometimes even more Silver than we do but not this time. I think I figured out what the problem was and told him tonight on the phone what must have happened. I told Dale that his Explorer XS was upset with him since he left her sitting last time in the car for over half the day while he got newly acquainted with the Safari, his second love. I think Dale is going to really have to start sucking up to his XS if he ever wants her to be the same again. Isn't that right Dale???:poke::rofl:

As for me, I ended Sunday with more finds than I thought I had. If it wasn't for Tim's Silver Dollar, it would have been a fair match and almost an even score of goodies. I ended the day with 12 Silver, them being 1 Walking Liberty Half Dollar dated 1945-d, 1 Barber Quarter dated 1900, 1 Silver Canadian Quarter dated 1940 with a hole in it, 6 Mercury Dimes dated 1923,1936,1941-s,1942-d,1943,1943-d and 3 Rosie's dated 1951-d,1959-d and 1961-d. However hard I tried, I could not walk over top of an Indian Head, which really was a bummer since I was really hoping to find at least one. Next time will be my time! I also dug 24 Wheats. They were dated 14,19-s,25-d,(2)28-d,34,(2)36-d,37,37-d,41,41-d,(2)44-d,45,(3)45-d,(4)47-d and (2)58-d.

It was another very successful hunt and finds so far for the year look to be in abundance and hope that they will continue to be all year long. I would have gone more in depth during the hunt but I figured I would let your eyes rest due to all the other great finds being posted recently, which I still have to comment on. Anyways, thanks for taking the time and looking at yet another one of my posts of finds and hope that your hunts are just as fun and rewarding as mine are. To you all, Good Luck and HH and until next time, keep pluggin' away![attachment 124528 DirtyInjunampWheats.jpg][attachment 124531 CleanedInjunampWheats.jpg][attachment 124522 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 124526 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 124521 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 124523 CleanedWheats.jpg]

Nice hunting - I have not been out much yet this year - only a few silver so far. Question: How is there big silver left in the ground up there? Are most of your signals classic or are they the tricky type. Down here in Utah most finds are tricky type and the only areas that produce at all are ones that just have not had heavy XS work. But this is changing fast as times go on.

Anyway great finds again.

Good to see your post James, was wondering what you all found as Tim wasn't for sure, but it did sound like you did well and Dale had a off day.
Tim's silver dollar was a real shocker and this make the 5th one he has got since he started detecting in 1998. The walker he got you can see there was some rusty iron on top of it as it has the brown spot on the half and said it was one of the iffy signals that was about 13 inches deep.

Great bunch of coins you 3 got and I wish I could have been there too just to see how my E-Trac would have worked too at these site as some sounded pretty trashy. It was a long day for you 3 and a lot of miles traveled too, but sounds like you all had fun.

Rick

It sure was fun to get out and dig up some nice Big Silver again. It's too bad that you couldn't have been with since I know that you could really use a Silver Fix right about now. Maybe sometime in the near future, we could hook up and do a little road trip and see what you can pull from some of these areas. I know that there is tons left and it would be worth going back to. Thanks for the reply back Rick on my finds and I will see you later. Good Luck and HH to you when you get out.

are the classic high pitched screamers and it is still amazing at just how many of these targets there are still waiting for a coil to sweep over. The Half I found was Super Loud and was a good 10" Deep. At first, I thought possibly a Silver Quarter since the ID first started at 30 but then went to 28 on Digital and if I would have looked on Smart Find, I would have known right away that it was a Half, but it was a pleasant surprise to see that chunk of Silver flop out of the ground that is for sure. The Barber Quarter read 30 and had Iron in the hole with it since I didn't receive any Coin Icon next to the number. This Coin was only about 5" Deep and I was stoked since this was the last coin I dug before we left. There are tons of targets masked by Iron and Trash up here also which makes some of them scratchy but if you know what the detector is telling you it is fairly easy to distinguish these signals from falses. It also helps when a hunter takes off on a road trip and does a little driving around in search of different sites, which I feel is why we are still finding many coins up in this area. Anyways, thanks for the reply on my finds and I hope you can get out and do a little road trip and see if that won't improve your finds on your next hunt. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you Andrus.

Wow way to go James! I love reading your posts and finds. Keep up the great work. I don't find many Canadian coins by me, but one of the few that I have found, happens to be my oldest coin to date 1844 Half Cent from one of the oldest parks here in St. Paul.

Talk to you later. I look forward to the next post. HH

further north, that the Canadian Coinage increases when out hunting. The closer you are to Canada, the more Canadian Coins one will find. I find them every so often and it is usually when it is an Older Quarter or Dime, which then makes me only wish that they would have been Barber. I have even found a Canadian Half that would have been Seated if it would have been American but I can't complain since I am the only one it the Detecting Club that has found a Canadian Half Dollar. In fact, I have 2 to my credit. The first didn't have a date but would have been Seated time frame and the other was a 1916. It's nice though to get something different from time to time which just adds to the variety to the growing collection. Glad you liked the finds and hope you have some luck on your next outing. Until then, Good Luck and HH to you.

If you ever decide to get rid of that Gold Chain and Cross, let me know what you want for it. I like the Chain myself. Hope you have more luck on your next outing buddy. Hope you are feeling up to the hunt on Saturday and Good Luck and HH to you during that outing.

is still out there to find if one goes looking for it. Glad you liked the finds and hope to continue doing well during the upcoming outings. Good Luck and HH to you out in your neck of the woods.:detecting:

in more abundance if a person was to go closer to the Canadian Border than anywhere else in the State. It seems that the trips up north yield more Canadian than usual and it must be because of the border. I do find many Canadians during the year though but if I was to look for some Older Canadians, I would go further north in North Dakota to have a better chance. Thanks for the reply and hope this answered your question. Good Luck and HH!

Man that is some awesome finds my friend!!! I love that Canadian quarter.... I hope one finds it's way under my coil soon!!!
Sweet finds man!!
Keep it up!!

It's been a great year so far on Silver and I just hope it continues. It was fun and there is plenty more where this came from. Thanks for the reply and hope you land a Canadian Quarter real soon. Good Luck and HH to you.

Wow thats quite a haul - congrats!!!!
