the cross is 925 and my favorite find for the month. the button i need help with. if anybody knows any info on it i would love to hear it. the back says " HORTSMANN PHILADELPHIA" and the banners above the eagle read " EPL?KIBUS UNUM" as I see it.

Does it have a small round rod sticking out of the back? If it does, it would probably be the insignia worn on the front of an enlisted mans dress hat back in the 60's.

that button is dated from 1902 to present. Without the sunburst above the eagle it would go back into the 1800's. WTG on the silver cross. Neat finds, steve in so az

Steve is right. That style eagle was mad from 1902 and used during WWI. Yes Horstman Phily made buttons way back then, but did not make that one till 1902. So yours was made between 1902 - 1935. Nice find! I like the cross too! :)

Congrats, dobbie, on all the nice finds....You are doing really good at MD'ing!

God Bless!
