Very nice...I like those big cats...I fish the MKG and Muskegon Lake. Looks like you know what your doing there, Don!
If you ever get a chance, get down to Alabama and go after those big blue cats on the Tennessee river over in Guntersville.
Great photos!

about 15 minutes South of Grand Rapids. I used to go bowfishing on Muskegon Lake for those big ugly carp.Nothing like trying to reel in a 30-40lb carp with a bow  The cats we catch on the Grand River and the Kalamazoo river. Lot's of fun for sure!

You know me! me and my cousin shot a lot of tournaments here in West Mich...we were the guys in the wooden boat "Carp Coffin", with a couple of lanterns hanging off the front!
We never took the big award, but we did win some big fish pots, and usually shot enough to be respectable. Then I moved to Guntersville for ten years, and got to shoot all sorts of fish down there. Then I moved back here. I still fish salmon when they run the MKG channel, jigging for them. now that is a blast!

If Crappie was not biting i would fish carp and buffalo with ultra lite rods and reels. The reels I liked the best for this were the Zed co Omega 113 & 161 if I remember the numbers right. They were a great Little crappie rig. They would handle 5 to 7 carp with a work out but was FUN. All fisherman Know where there is 5 and 7 carp & buffalo There 25 or bigger carp & buffalo. Hook one Boogers and that little would not Have Solid tooth on Gear in 30 seconds. I would buy the reels 4 or 5 at time Back than I Fished all most as Coin Hunt today. At least one of of these little reels would be Kill in Action. After a 20 or so this little my wife start wonder where all my fishing money was going because it was only the first Aug and was Spending Oct's money. So She went to lake with me on the next fishing at the last minute to see if i was to something.

The place I fished was a fishing deck about 60 X 100 foot with 4 open wells in side and 10 foot walk way around the out side. It had two rails where we lay-ed our robs and fished below the deck for crappie and bass. The water was any from 20 to 60 depended on lake conduction's and where on the deck you were at. I would with up to 10 rods if the deck was not to busy.By 10 A, M. the crappie stopped biting Ange I re bait for crap. Within 15 minute Patty hooked into a Monster and it took the gears right and break the line.

Patty put a End to me crap fishing with Ultra Lite. But Now Land 40 50 pound yellow cat on 16 pound line, I need to try some carp fishing.

I will not eat a crap but Buffalo are as good as a Cat if Prepare right.
