Here's the weekends finds I made. These are the Real Deal, Not Planted Finds!

On Friday, I headed down to the Hunt that was going to be held on Saturday. I needed to find 3 Silver to break my old record of 70 Silver during 1 month of detecting and I got them. Ended the month with 71! The 3rd Silver that I needed, and your probably not going to believe this, but it turned out to be a nice 1917-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar (mint mark on reverse). This was my 3rd 1917 this last month and I was hoping that it would have been a Plain so I could have had every mint mark but I wasn't that lucky. You can't be picky when Halves are coming out of the ground. 6 Halves this last month and I am sure that record will stand for a long time. The rest of the Silver goes for next months totals which I started so far with 10. Now onto the Actual Lost Finds I made during this last weekend. For Silver, I ended the weekend with 13 Silver's. They are as follows. 1 1917-s Walking Liberty Half Dollar, 2 Washington Quarters dated 1939-d and 1945-d, 2 Barber Dimes dated 1906 and 1911-d, 6 Mercury Dimes dated 1935,1941-d,1942-d,1943-d,1943-s, and 1945-d, 1 Roosevelt Dime dated 1952-d, and 1 Canadian Dime dated 1965. I also found 1 Buffalo Nickel that was in the same hole as a Silver Quarter and a Merc that is dated 1925. I also found a Canadian Penny dated 1938. A newer Sacagawea Dollar was also recovered which will get me 1 more point next month. I also found a Wheat Penny dated 1936 that must be Gold Plated with a rim around it with a small hole on top to wear on a Necklace. This was the neatest find this weekend. For Wheat Pennies, I found 33 more dated 09,10,12,17-d,18-s,19,(2)20,28,29,29-d,32,35-d,37,(2)37-d,38,41,42-d,42-s,(5)44-d,(6)45-d,46-d, and 51-d. A few Misc. Items as well which are a Junk Ring that says I Love You on it, another Junk Ring with a Stone, some Plastic Beads on a String for my Misc. Category thus far for next months meeting, a Cub Scout Clasp, and some other Fastener of some sort with 2 bendable tabs on the back. That's my finds so enjoy and thanks for looking once again. Sure is a lot of Silver when one goes and looks at it all. It is tough to find that many. 40 Silver a month is good but 71 is Outstanding! Thanks again, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

52 for a month...but that was back many years ago when Fisher came out with the CZ line. For you to be doing it now just shows what research can do for a hunter. Good job.
 
It is hard to find sites that yield Silver in vast Quantities, but they do exist if you are serious about finding them Old Coins and Relics that most others only dream about finding. I will admit that most sites will yield average results but there is always something out there that has been passed up or forgotten about that is LOADED with TONS of SILVER. Do the RESEARCH and find the TREASURE!!! Good Luck and HH to all you fellow hunters.:detecting:

James I wish we didnt live so faraway from each other I would love to have you as a hunting partner with your drive.The guy I hunt with has small kids and dont get to hunt very often.Its not as fun finding good targets when you are the only one to see it come out of the ground but I guess Ill have to tought it out and hunt by myself HA HA.That is AWESOME all of that silver,A coin dealer told me that silver is suppost to go up a bunch sometime in a year or so.I dont know if he knows what he is talking about.Good luck on your next hunt.

Having taken up several other hobbies this summer, I've not had time to check this forum much. James, you are not leaving anything for the future archeologists (or detectorists) to find.

Do you ever consider giving lessons on how to out perform as a metal detectorist?

Great job. I love to see that those kinds of things are still in the ground. But they won't be for long if you're around.
 
I always get asked what I run for Settings, Patterns, Coils, and what kind of Sites I detect. I share what I can and try to help others do well out in the field. Have you seen the Post with the 31 Silver???? Best check that one out Dug. It is about 3-4 posts before this one. It will be worth the time to search and look at. Then you will see SILVER and BIG SILVER at that. Thanks for the posting and Good Luck and HH at that Fairgrounds.:thumbup:
 
These were at other Parks in the area. Before the Hunt, I stopped off at a Town Park and found a few keepers and then after the Hunt, I found the rest of finds at other Various Parks and Sites. Thanks for the question, that is if you were being Serious. Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

Come on James..I'm not questioning your finds...
But it is pretty hard to believe.
You spend a great deal of time describing your finds.
It would be great and bring some more interest to your post.....
If you would scan your coins before you clean them,
then give us a shot after you clean them..

To this day I've yet to find an old coin on land..only in the water..
I'd like to see how the tarnish compares to my water finds ... mine are in pretty bad shape

This upcoming weekend, I will try and make some great finds and I will, JUST FOR YOU, leave the finds uncleaned and scan them. Then I will clean them up and repost them. You are right about before and after Pics, but I don't have Photobucket so I will most likely have to do a separate Post below the Uncleaned Posting. Tim Called me and he got 2 great finds on Tuesday and probably has two categories tied up. He picked up another 1894 O barber half and he got a 1909 IH in very nice shape plus it has a S on the back of it(lucky as usual) in Fargo at a construction site I think. Both coins are worth a few $$$$.I been out a little at a farm site with the SE and the 8 inch Concentric coil, works good in trash as I got 5 older Wheaties a 1918 merc, a token from 1920-1928 and a very nice brass "New Standard Lever 6 paddle lock.I was over this same area a few years ago with the Sovereign, the EX II with both the stock coil and the Joey and though I had it cleaned out. The SE with the 8 inch Concentric coil didn't think so I guess.
 
You mentioned to someone on this forum about digging EVERYTHING in order to get at the treasures underneath. Honestly now, how often do you do this?

Tell me more about electrolysis. Is it just the coin as one of the electrodes through an electrolyte solution?
