I'm talking about "The Big Blue Meanie". I just wanted to share it with you all that I finally got my Quatro out of hock. Pretty shamefull thing to do to hock a detector like that, but I was pretty desperate at the time. But, unless circumstances get pretty darn dire, and I don't plan better than I think I will, (this time); "YOUR GONNA HAVE TO PREY IT FROM MY COLD DEAD FINGERS, IN ORDER TO GET IT AWAY FROM ME NOW".:| I'm so glad to get it back, it's starting to get my blood pumping again. I'm already eyeballing a vacant lot near a hospital here in town where they recently tore down some old houses. Only thing on that is, how risky to search it. Man that always seems to be the question with me at least. I don't have any trouble at the beach or parks, but I'm always leary of the other places. I don't even know where to go to get permission, but it's not fenced in and I'm thinkin' if there aren't any signs, I might give it a go, but let me know if you think I'm out of line on that. Hope I can come up with something worthwhile to share in the coming months.:|

Well I swung, swang, swinged, the coil around a bit today, and then I went and signed up for some English lessons. Maybe I should say, I moved the coil over some sand today at the bay, thought I had a good hit, dug down and found that darn aluminum can all crumpeled up. Guess I need to get out and practice, just a bit here, to say the least. I forgot how confusing all those erratic sounds, double blips, etc, can be, but I remember I thought that when I first got the detector for about a week, then it started to come together. Back to the drawing board, back to Andy's book and back to the practice sessions for me, but I'm still glad to get this thing back and I'm seeing everything around town the past two days as a dig site. I'm starting to get the fever again, and probably headding down to Home Depot to look at their digging tools. I can't seem to find my old ones yet. Please forgive me gang, I'm just excited to be back in the ball game again.:|

About time too! Now don't ever go hocking the detector again, or you'll never hear the end of it from me! Just kidding around! Well, wish I was over there to go detecting with you, while you initiate the detector! But it'll have to be in mind and spirit instead! I'm glad you got out today, and I don't think it's going to take you any time to pick it up. Bit like once you learn to ride a bike, you never forget. As for the vacant lot, can't see why you couldn't detect there on a weekend, when no one's likey to be working there. Do you have any parks or reserves near you, that you could detect in the evening, or early morning, when no one's about? One thing I'd be researching is: any farmland that used to have an old house site, or township on it. If you found out something like that, all you have to do is ask the owner or leasee to detect there. Can't see why they wouldn't. Anyway, I'm not familiar with your neck of the woods, or what you have ther (I'm imagining a big bustling city!), but maybe onlyu an hour or so away, there's something to check out for you.
Well Beachguy, you've got me excited here, and I better stop, or I'll keep yakking! Let us know how you go.
Cheers and Happy Hunting, Golden:twodetecting::minelab::)

Thanks for the "cheering section", I sure need it.:| You know, I forgot about that farmland thing. Great idea!! I grew up over a valley that's now mostly filled in by businesses, but I remember playing down there as a kid and they had nothing but farms and farm houses. Hmmmmm. Maybe I ought to drive down there and take a look around. If there's any spot left to hunt, I remember where the houses and stuff were, pretty much, it might be interesting. We also have a historical society, and I've already been online looking at their old photos and since I grew up here, I know where most of the places are. It's tough because so much of it has changed but there are still some places left that a person could go to and hunt that were there in the old photos. You've got me getting interested in this rellic idea, and I never was that much before until I saw all your pictures. That is a fascinating aspect of this endeavor. You notice I didn't say hobby, because I know to a lot of us it's almost more that just a hobby, it's a passion. I'm also looking at the curb side dirt areas all around town, and unfortunately, the ones you could get at are in the "badder" parts of town, but on the other hand, maybe they wouldn't give you as much greif as the rich people would. I just don't think I'll go down there at night, it's just to scary. I make deliveries down there at night from time to time to deliver perscriptions to peoples houses and one night these four guys came up to me and said: Aren't you afraid to be down here, you know they killed a pizza delivery guy here a few months ago."? Well I tried to act cool about it, but it certainly shook my cage. My question was, Gee, I wonder if you were the guys that did it.? That's the area I'm talking about detecting in. Sounds like real fun, hugh.:|
