Hey BFL Bill..

Seeing as how the race may get rained out today I am thinking about hitting an old homesite and need your advise.

There is iron of all sizes and at all depths and I do mean a lot. The goodies are at all depths to. Seeing as how you been working the Edge around lots of old iron what sens settings do you use? I have been using 7-8 mostly in moderate iron and getting good depth and seperation. So where should I start at this site?

I know you already know all this stuff but you asked so here's my opinion. I'd attack it in two main strategies. The first time out, I'd hit it with less sensitivity (4 or 5 tops) and more headphone or detector volume than usual. With the Edge's excellent modulation, the extra volume will help with the now fringe depth targets, given the reduced sensitivity and you'll be getting the best separation possible. You might also consider running the coil a tad higher than usual in this initial strategy. If ya can, hit the site from all eight directions. Then if you want, crank up the sens. and hit it again. I just like to put my "best unmasking setup" foot forward first and then go back for max depth second when hunting old iron laden sites. Good luck, Tom!

Will do Brad. It has been hit with everything in the arsenal (as usual) so I will start with the low sensitivity first. As to 8 directions? Heck I tend to wander a lot unless I have a lot of time for a serious gridding so.. multi directions thru the hot spots is my strategy today!

It's like trying to get a LARGE truckload into a small truck! Suffice it to say, I come prepared for much more than I ever encounter and I bet this time will be the same. :D I can't wait to hear what Tom and Doug will say when we load up that first morning.
