Hey Bill, question about the CS-1 probe

Mike Hillis

Well-known member
I spoke to Ralph but he suggested I ask you. Regards the sensivity settings when using the CS-1 probe. What kind of performance did you see out of the probe with a 0 sensitivity setting?

Thanks,

Mike

I will try that setting in a few min. as I doubt I ever tried it that way.
Glad you brought that up.....I'm now curious myself & the probe is on my C$, so I'll respond later....

The 0 setting worked very well actually with the probe. I got about an inch to 1/2 inch depth with the probe on small, button type items. In other words, you didn't have to touch the object. This is good, as some folks feel that the C$ is so powerful, at high sens. settings the probe is getting well over 3" on objects is almost too hot...

I thought someone had said the probe field test was in this last issue of W&ET but it just has the coil test. You don't have a write up on the probe anywhere do you?

Good report Bill. But I'm still confused on the Adapter/probe/coil interchange between the Edge and the C$. Maybe I should just read your field test again but I'll ask anyway as some others may want to know. The way I read it, the probe allows interchange of all coils between the Edge and C$ and the adapter only allows the C$ coils to be used on the Edge. Is that correct?? :nerd:

That is correct Jack. Since the CS-5 was originally designed for the Coin$trike the adaptor is for CS-5 use on the Edge. The adaptor will also allow all other Coin$trike coils to be used on the Edge. However, the CS-1 probe has the electronic switch over in the switch box so all C$/Edge coils will be interchangeable back and forth between detectors as long as the CS-1 probe is in-line. Hope this helps.
