Hey Eric and Mr Bill........

I sure love my Aquasearch PI in fact just today I pulled a larger 14kt nugget ring with 6 diamonds out of 4 feet of water. I am wondering though how the Aquasearch stacks up against the new Deepstar 3? What are the major differences besides the probe? I do know that it is not a water machine but I get the impression it is ok for the beach and getting rained on......just not going under water. What is the power diffenence? Is there better sensitivity or just more raw power? Sorry for all the questions but I'm considering purchasing an additional unit and I'm already looking at the Minelab GP 3500. How do you think it stacks up?

Thanks again and I'll post a pic of the big ring tomorrow..

How much more raw power are we talking? Would I see a marked difference in depth like 3-4"? What exactly makes the Deepstar3 more powerful than the Aquasearch?

Mike T

Yes on the depth, but because of the 10uS. on the Aquasearch over the 15uS. of the Deepstar, the Aquasearch will be a bit more responsive to some lower conductive items. Everything being equal the Deepstar will come out on top because of it's brute horsepower.

The user has more adjustments at his fingertips to fine tune the Deepstar 3 to hunting conditions. The receiver has more gain, and it is adjustable separate from the pulse delay.

Mr. Bill

You have gone back and forth here on saying Aquastar and Aquasearch which are 2 different detectors. I think you both mean Aquasearch right?

I currently have an Aquasearch and am very pleased with its performance especially in the water. Like everyone else though I am always looking for that elusive edge over existing equipment. If the Deepstar3 is truly more powerful it may be worth adding it to my arsenal. If the difference is only marginal at best I cannot see spending an additional 2K when I may already have the best. I realize too that the Deepstar3 is not water proof as the Aquasearch and former Aquastar. I actually have a side business locating peoples lost jewelry and such in the South Florida area. The edge I actually need is in the water not on land as most of the calls I receive are for lost rings in the ocean. Any of you who search seaward know that conditions change hourly if not by the minute so a deep machine for the water is my main concern and as far as I know I already have the best unit on the market. Not looking to stir the pot here just want honest answers from people who know.

If anyone has an Aquastar and is willing to part with it I would like to hear from you.

Thanks and HH

Mike T.

I believe the Aquastar2 has some changes over the original Aquastar and will go to 10 second delay.
