Went with Neal (see his "Yankee Camp Digs" below) this week-end at the invitation of Jim Martin.
Jim is a class act. The people who would invite you to their private digs can be counted on one hand with A LOT of fingers left believe me!
Still learning the Explorer so my finds are meager in comparision to Neals. But I'm happy with them.
Dug a couple of Austrian 69 cal minies. I cant imagine the damage that those did when soldiers were hit. I thought the 58's were monsterous enough!
I got some 58's. I havent dug the dirt out yet to see if there is a Washington Armory star.
I also dug a flat button that is just about gone due to the "manure tea" thats in the soil. Metalic items don't fare to well.
The smaller round I believe to be a Navy Colt cal 44.
Lastly I dug a harness/bridal buckle. I wish that georgous green patina would last. But it fades the longer its exposed to the air. When dug it, it was an emerald green.
