silver and gold the big ones,they would even silver plate them so to elude the real fake underneath the plating.they are :lol:
just as counterfiet paper money today..were there is money there are CROOKS :lol:

I have spanish silver from the 1700's as well that was brass and silver plated to look real UNTIL they went to cut the piece of eight
Here is a spanish eight reale-piece of eight better known as and it is FAKE...:rant: :lol:
They went too cut this into pieces and it broke rather then cutting nice as silver would have

Here is a fake 1803 gold piece as well,there were none minted this year,also made from brass

...California and have not been able to detect with my new V3i yet!

It is waiting paitently for me back home in Colorado. Pam and I are going to go to a competition hunt in Nebraska when I finally get back. It is looking like I'll be able to escape from Santa Maria on the 12th.
I've been out here for almost a month. This "little" job was only gonna take a couple of weeks and it has drug on way too long.

Maybe this is made out of lead?
 
I still like the twins I got from a well hunted out cellar hole just across the old drive way.The ground just thawed from a long winter and it was my first hunt of the year [a few years back].I dig one out which was in a mud ball,I put it in my good stuff pouch and when I rechecked the hole I still got a silver reading and popped out another mud ball.When I got home I put them in some water.Wow two mint 1915 quarters without a dent or wear on them just mint.Enlarge this photo there awesome.Enjoy
