Now the doc says I can return to work the work comp ends. Now trying to get unemployment. With the hotel's track record I will probably have to contest the decision (because they won't give the information needed - I will have to provide proof they hired me and paid me and how much, etc,) I am not liking the India

people much at this point. Those I have come in contact with are not nice.
Anyway, I am working to find a job through MichiganWorks and ran into a guy from Experience Works (for people 55 and older). Experience Works finds part time work for people while they (me) are still looking for full time employment. They find positions within government agencies and in non-profit organizations. A federally funded program. They also find work in areas the clients have no experience in....should be fun trying to find me something to do then...jack of all trades master of nothing,
Sherry says the No Worker Left Behind program is a lot of bureaucratic paperwork which leads nowhere. I know Terry is getting medical schooling under that program. We just hate more involvement of the government in our lives.
Have to job apps out right now I did yesterday...both with people clamoring to get them since work is so hard to find...one is working at a funeral home and the other is cutting grass at a golf course.
I think the way the hotel figures it is they will not put me back in maintenance for fear I might hurt myself again. They offered 10 hours a week working in their kitchen,...maybe clearing tables or something...BUT...the kitchen still isn't open and there is no idea when it will be...they have been messing with it since August and it still isn't open. I need work now not promises of hours for a job that they don't have now. I figure they will use the offer as a way of not paying unemployment...saying I refused work. I didn't refuse just said I needed more than 10 hours and I need to find work somewhere...and what kind of an offer is an offer for something they don't have?
So that is where I stand at the moment. Waiting on the mail as it will bring me a letter on getting unemployment. Even though I went to MichiganWorks to apply yesterday I have to wait for the letter then take the letter back to them then get on line and sign up with MARVIN - the automated thing for unemployment...then wait to get a letter back telling me if I get unemployment or if I am declined and have to fight to get it...by then I hope I already have work so I don't have to go through all the hoops and hassles.
Off to look for more job opportunities.
