Hey Philo...

Just wanted to let you know that I'd printed out your posts with tips on hunting with the exp II. I've read them a couple of times but believe it or not, I only just got it tonight

I've hunted my front and back yard to death and have found no more than a couple of wheaties. I've been out there since a bunch of times but couldn't find a target to dig if my life depended on it... there must be a ton of nails from all the home improvements over the years :)

Well, I went back with a different approach tonight. It's the same thing I learned to do with the CZ-20 but never thought of doing with the Exp II (until I re-read your post this afternoon). Very simply, lower the sensitivity. Duh.

While still "noisy", I was able to move around very slowly and at different angles and find some "iffy" signals that sounded worthy of digging a hole. Not all were good but I did manage to find another wheatie, a '46 Jefferson and an old dog tag. I'd been missing these amongst the iron all this time :rage:

Your tips were very helpful... just took a little time for me to fully understand what to listen for. I'll keep practicing :)

Question, Do you hunt the bays with the Exp II or do you still use the CZ-20?

Anyway,

Thanks for your help!

Joe... I use both at the beach. It's all according to the tide. When I have a good low tide coming, I use the Explor. working my way down the with the tide, but before the tide is at it's lowest... HE HE HE, I jump into my wet suit and bring out the CZ-20 and work the water as the tide goes to its lowest and then work it coming back up. When the tide reaches almost its highest point, I switch again to the explor. and work the dry sand... I find this system works very well all the time, but, it's a lot of work...HH.

You know, I was wondering how to best use both machines. I sure wish I had the CZ-20 with me last week. I ran into a really heavy fog at the beach and the ExpII went absolutely crazy on me. Guess there was way too much moisture in the air. Couldn't hunt with it (even after I thought to cover it with a plastic bag).

I'll try out your method next weekend as I should be able to catch a negative time first thing both mornings.

Thanks!
