Here's how the story unfolded. I went out to compare the Ace with another of my favorite machines-I had hunted this place with the Ace the day before. Well, I hadn't searched it in a while, so I raised the sensitivity to #3:rofl: and began my search. The Ace was finding coins I had missed and then I noticed I only had two battery bars left. I was in the rings version of the Coins mode and decided to go to sens. #2 to conserve battery 'cause I was still getting some of those deep iffy signals. Well, I got a STRONG nickel signal and there she was. No markings, so I guess it's not gold. Will have to have it tested-but it doesn't appear to be gold. To be fair, I hadn't searched this part of the park the day before.

Alot of time when rings are resized the mark sometimes gets cut or brazed over. Pics are a bit blurry but if there's no corosion I'd say it's gold! Play the odds and win!

If it has a cutout it's prob stainless steel. Still good snag!

WTG! Nice ring! Good idea on those settings. Seems to work really well. Good luck and happy hunting!
