The National Road Yard Sale started this week. Runs until Sunday, from Maryland to somewhere in Missouri. Route 40 or the National Road is about 13 miles north of us. Joan and I start out in Richmond, Indiana and head west until we get tired. We are starting out Saturday morning and with my new pickup, will probably get more junk that we don't need. I know how you like the yard sales and flea markets. Will let you know what we get.

Hey Doug,

I hope you and Joan have a wonderful time and find lots of good 'junk' to bring back home in your new truck! I will be thinking about y'all this weekend! We just had the "Hwy.11 Antique Alley Yard Sale" here. It is always the weekend (Thur-Sun) after Mother's Day each May. It begins in Meridian, Mississippi and goes to Bristol, Virgina - a little over 500 miles. Hwy. 11 is about 7 miles from my house and we travel it often. I do the yard sale only on Saturdays since there aren't as many vendors on Thursday and Friday, and most people have packed up and left by Sunday. I didn't buy a thing this year! Well, I take that back; I DID buy a hot dog and some fried pies from a local hot dog vendor lady. I didn't get to stay out as long as I would have liked because the rain started coming down hard.

The first weekend of every August (Thur-Sunday), we have the "World's Longest Yard Sale/Hwy.127 Corridor Yard Sale" through here. It's close to 700 miles long. Begins in Gadsden, Alabama, and ends in West Unity, Ohio. Gadsden is about 12-15 miles from me. I live waaaay out in the country and Gadsden is where we do most of our shopping, etc., so I can be there in just a few minutes. I'm looking forward to the sale but it's always sooooo HOT for us that time of year! :hot: It doesn't take me long to get too hot and worn out during that sale.
