Hey Vern, pump shotgun over a semi-auto. and why either way? Anyone else want to add an opinion be my guest.

to prove it to you. There was and old abandoned house in the woods when I was a teen with a shotgun, I know what it will do. At close range there is nothing better. Bird shot (high brass) will blow a 3" hole clean through you at 10 feet. A shotgun rules at close range, a nasty, nasty weapon. In Alaska for bear protection I carried my 9 shot Ithaca loaded with alternating slug, buck-shot, slug, buck-shot, etc. If a bear made it to me, he would have no eyes, teeth or sense smell left, so I could just put him in a headlock and choke'em out.

like Vern said you may fire off two or three shot when your in the heat of the moment with a simi and the sound of a pump is not the sound you want to hear if your the bad boy.

I have a 410g and 20g that will work just fine. Sure they are pea shooters, but at close range they will do just as much damage to a chest wall or stomach as a 12g. Plus they are less apt to knock you off balance with the kickback if you need to fire a second shot.
