HF eliptical coil doesn't turn on after charge.

I charged everything up 1st of April for a trip to Arkansas and when I got there it rained steady and didn't get out at all. So the detector has been shelved since then. I went to the park yesterday to do some detecting and didn't notice the coil wasn't active until I got to the park and turned the control unit on and the coil wasn't connected. That's when I noticed the coil light wasn't flashing. So went home and connected to the charger and it charged in the normal amount of time and when done I removed the clip and still no flashing indicator on the coil and it doesn't connect. Anyone have any issues with this on the HF coils. Reckon I will have to send it in for warranty repair. My other two coils are still charged and connect ok.

Was the coil light on while charging and flashing every 3 seconds when the charge was completed?

Yes it pretends to be charging normally except when I first attach the charge clip the light blings 3 times and goes off for several times and then stays on steady and charges and when done the coil light flashes about every 3 seconds, and when I remove the clip the coil light does not flash anymore. It is dead. I am using version 4.1 and everything is ok using the other coils and the pinpointer works flawlessly. Thanks for the suggestions. I think it will need to go in for repair or replace!
I did remove the battery from the stem and unscrew the connector and check across the battery pins for a voltage check with a digital multimeter and it reads 0.0. So I think for some reason or another the battery has conked out.

It won't read voltage on those connector contacts. Maybe clean them with a damp cloth and try to charge again.

No flashing light sounds bad.

XP Service says the battery is dsad. Since they have 2 yr. Warranty on the battery, They are sending me another in return for mine or will be charged 50 bucks. So will know when it arrives if that is the issue.

Listener,

Sounds like your troubleshooting is spot on. Always nice to have a multi-meter around.

Don't forget to send that failed battery back !
