Hello Everyone;
I am new to this forum, and I have just purchased a Sovereign XS2a Pro. I have been reading about this machine and it seems as if it is a good one.
I have been detecting casually for a few years with a Bounty Hunter, with not alot of success. I think that will change now with some practice with this machine. This looks like a great forum and I am happy to be here.
BTW - I am in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada (no, I don't hate George Bush). Any other Canucks out there?

Those of you that are new sometimes wonder if you made the right choice with the Sovereigns, but if you have the patience you will know you made a excellent choice as you will see.
I am sure you will have some questions and here is where you ask them as we have the best Sovereign fourm on the net with the greatest people that have experienced the power of the Sovereigns and will be happy to share their knowlege.

Thanks Rick;
I have already picked up alot of info on this web site that I can't wait to try. I don't have the detector yet as it was shipped to my friend in Michigan first.
I am itching to go try it out. You are right, this place seems to have the best info on minelabs!
What a great site!

Marcus, I hope you'll post your thoughts and experiences with the sov. I got an Elite this year and am still learning it. Hated it at first, sticking with it and finding I like it more and more except that it ignores Canadian clad for the most part. I kinda miss coming home with a bagfull of change.
Then again..it has found me some old stuff and deep at that.
Love hate relationship so far....But..I'm sticking with it for at least a year before I decide. I don't believe you learn a machine well in less time.

Hi scott-devon;
Thanks. I do plan on posting my progress as I learn the machine. From what I can tell it is a great machine if I use it right, have patience and learn from my experiences.

Hey marcus,
I went the same route with a Bounty Hunter Land Star for some months and then a Sov XS-2a. My advice is to start with your smallest coil off somewhere with not much trash and iron. I was dumb and learned the Sov in my nail infested backyard.
There is really no comparison. The Land Star beep doesn't give you nearly as much info as the Sov tones do.
With the Sov if you get a tone, one of three things is true: a) your sens is too high and you're falsing; b) you're falsing off iron; c) there is something there.
You'll know 'a' because it happens constantly and if you switch into All Metal there just isn't anything there. Turn down your Sens.
You'll know 'b' because you'll switch to All Metal and center your coil over the object and then switch back into Disc and wiggle and you'll null.
You'll know 'c' because you'll dig up lots of cool deep stuff!
Good luck!

Now now <img src="/metal/html/nono.gif" border=0 width=22 height=19 alt=":nono"> . Don't rag the Landstar. I have one of those too. Makes an excellent 9V battery tester. Just listen for the "BEEP-BUURP-BOOP" .

This is a great forum, with the sharpest Sovereign users on the web. You will learn a lot from these folks.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the welcome!
I was actually out today with my old Bounty Hunter with my 2 boys and we found $1.25 in clad - but it was fun.
