when I get started on Jesus and the Bible, I never know when to stop! It is almost 11:30 here in MO, so we're going to try to tackle the garage cleaning again and put up a new mailbox, which is attached with large screws to the mailbox and post! Got tired of having it hit and/or knocked off the post! This one was new and it was hit by a baseball bat and knocked off and my neighbor nailed it back on and then another neighbor fixed it where it couldn't be knocked off, but the flag was broken off and mailbox dented and lopsided when someone hit it with car or pickup! Poor ole box has been through a lot!

You can't put the box on your porch ? Here, people cannot do that but we had ours on the porch before they passed the law saying you have to have it at curbside. So we are the only house on the street with it on the porch- and away from vandals, steve in so az

No Steve, here in this subdivision in South County the mailboxes have always been by the curb. The mailman came while we were trying to get the old box off the post and it turned out to be a big problem! Had to tear it apart to get to the long bolts holding it on the arm of the post! We then needed a board to fit the new box underneath so we could drill holes in the board and it! My neighbor, who lives straight across the street; he is 86 and works and looks like a farmer, came over to help and he had a 2 X 4 and cut it 17 inches long which was the right length and then helped Cliff drill and bolt it in place! We have the nicest neighbors and hope the ones in Cuba, MO are also! He has had his mailbox for 36 years and his wooden post is split and it was so windy today that it actually was blowing and moving the post! His neighbor next to him said he should get a new box and he said why, I've only had it for 36 years? His has faired better than mine ever has!

Never did get to the garage cleaning as it took so long to put the new box up that we were both tired and with the garage door open, the leaves were blowing all over the place inside my garage! So, we quit and came into the house to relax after the ordeal of the mail box! In the neighborhood where my son lives in Lemay they have postmen who walk and pick up or deliver the mail to the box attached to their brick wall by the front door. They just reach out and mail or pick up their mail! No walking to the curb in ice, rain, or snow to get their mail like Cliff and I do!

told me. In his younger days he and 2 others knocked down a mailbox with a car 2 weekends in a row. The third weekend they hit it again and rolled the car and the old guy was sitting on his porch laughing. He put a large piece of pipe in the ground and glued tree bark on it.

Comical story that wouldn't work these days, for if they had been hurt or by wrecking their car, they would sue the victim and receive money....This is a Sue Happy World! You can't breathe or say or do anything without someone wanting to take a person to court and ruin their good name and make them pay for hurting or damaging the car of the troublemakers! Remember, we have liberal judges who've no common sense! :sad:
