Hi Folks; Does Anyone Know How To - -

Hi Folks; Does Anyone know how to kill weeds once and for all. Been pulling weeds from my yard for 2 weeks and they came back again in 1 week. I hate the blasted things. I being a City Boy figure you guys would know. I want them DEAD.!!!!!! "PERMANENTLY" !!!!! I'll be darned if I'm not going to solve this one. All me and my Family are trying to do is have a nice BBQ in a nice looking yard.We could if it were not for these blasted weeds. They are groing out of cracks in an asphalt topped yard ok. Any info. will be appreciatd. I tried Round Up and 2 others on them. NO Effect. I'm stumped.!!!!! I being stubborn on things like this WILL find a PERMANENT solution. Maybe one that veryone can use. You know like you spray them ONCE and they're completely dead in about 2 days. No fooling around with them. I wished I could use NAPALM.!!! That always worked. PERMANENTLY. Get the idea ??? Anyway I appreciate it. I await your replies. PEACE:RONB

Hard to get rid of. We spray for weeds all the time at my school, and lo and behold they come back sooner or later. Mike in MI is a landscaper, I think, and he might have a good answer.

I know you are not supposed to do this but gas works good on driveways. I spilled gas in my yard once and it would not grow grass there for about a year. Salt will work also.

You can use Weed-b-Gone and that will help but unless you destroy and kill the roots, they will keep coming back and need to be repeated in trying to get rid of them! The roots of trees, weeds and many flowers reproduce themselves by spreading out their roots and making more plants near by....just like a strawberry patch puts out its vines above and below ground! Blame satan, as he is the one who caused all of the bad things in life, after God created a perfect and beautiful Paradise! Amen!

My brother and I used to cut the sprouts and remove them in the fields that grew from the tree stumps that had been cut down and from the seeds spread by birds and other animals! With the way they propagate, we will not get rid of them all and only exercise of pulling, cutting and derooting them with dedication will remove most of them for a time in the ground, asphalt and concrete, where they can grow out of the smallest cracks! Even shrub brush grow upon the mountains and out of cracks in rocks and clifts! Hardy nuisances they are for the persons wanting a nice, smooth greem growing grassy lawn! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

1 word... CONCRETE

My wife won't go for it though, not for the whole yard.

Agree Mike may know. One thing I know is that if the grass is cut short then weeds tend to grow more than the grass. Cutting the grass higher gives the grass a better chance of surviving. Might want to raise the blade on the mower a notch or two.

Only 2 other things come to mind. Rats, I just forgot one.

That was probably the best answer. Oh I remember, remember, an enemy has done this (Mat 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
Mat 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? )

The other solution is an airstrike by the Air Force using Napalm

If you pull it and get all of it, that one won't come back. If there is still some root it may come back. Round up is great, but another that was there will likely sprout. Cracks often have many weed seeds just waiting to start up, so if you kill one, there is probably another getting ready. The best was is to pave your entire yard and drive and have no grass at all.
Weeds are a thing that will always need some constant work.
The lanw care and landscape guy! :wiggle:

weed killer like round up works but when it is dry out like it is now now, weeds grow faster than the grass and you have to use the weed killer about every 3-4 weeks to really keep them gone. I think weeds can grow without a drop of rain, they must survive off of just the dew. I have to spray my stone driveway once a month to keep the weeds down, weeds are just something that are a pain in the butt, no easy fix.

I have been plagued with the same problem and ABSOLUTELY hate using the herbicides that say you are supposed to dress up in a toxic waste outfit JUST to put it on. I found Milestone from Dow chemical to work very nicely and without the Spacesuit, but slowly. It IS expensive, but you use a very small quantity per gallon of water. As soon as it is dry, it is safe for playing in or animals to eat. It doesn't breakdown if frozen, just shake up the crystals that form and you are good to go.

I removed a weird tree from the yard at the other place and was rewarded with nearly a hundred new trees coming up from the roots! It took several applications to finally get all the sprouts that kept coming up in new places over a summer, BUT I WON!

Go out to Dow chemical and look up the MSDS sheet on Milestone or check it out at your local feed store. I haven't seen it at our local Ace hardware or other garden stores but you never know.

Because of it's MSDS (material safety data sheet) it is the only one I will ever use again. My health problems prohibit the use of the rest of the more toxic products.
The price is the main thing that scares you, but you use a very small amount per gallon. If you exceed their recommendations, NOTHING, will grow there for several years even if you want it to.

Oh, one time, I was trying to destroy the weeds in the separation areas of my sidewalks and driveways, and my neighbor said to use vinegar and I guess with a little salt in it, it would kill anything even the grass, so have to be careful and not use on a very windy day! I just pull them out after a rain or use a weed digger and get rid of them for a while that way! Each time I go to the mailbox, I pull some weeds, if I am not too dizzy which I am a lot! Now, that I'm older and not healthy enough to do yard work like I once did, weeds don't bother me as much, because since I can't do much, I have begun to not care, unless they get too bad! Only perfectionists like perfect green, neat and trimmed lawns....I know, as I was once one! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Folks; Please Keep the suggestions coming. I like MARK's idea. Use Milestone from Dow. Thing I liked was he said that if you use to much "NOTHING" will grow in that spot for several years. To that I say "BINGO". That is the idea. I'm not going to repave as I don't own this house and I'm moving next year. I don't want to wait until the weeds "decide" to die either.7Centsworth had a good idea as well, GAS. Don't want to but I will if I get no other solutions. My drift is to pull them, then spray them DEAD FOREVER.!!!!!!! It kills me that we take the human heart out and put in a new one but we can't kill weeds. It just does not figure. So please keep the suggestions coming ok. Thanks. PEACE:RONB :biteme:

I think DK has a good answer also. At least the weeds might pack up and leave.

Thanks DK I like your suggestion, also, and the signs would keep the sleeze-bags away too! Hey traveling Mike, I used to use Weed and Feed but I am unable to really take care of my yard like I used to do, so let us pray and say, Lord God Almighty, please help each of us to keep those ugly flowers out of our yards and just let the beautiful, colorful ones grow pretty in the flower beds! Amen! Hey folks....try prayer and it just might work even better than weed killers and pulling them up and casting them away! There are some weeds even in the church pews but by God's salvation grace they could be beautiful, blooming flowers for God's Kingdom! :) May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Perhaps you could convince the government to give you 5 gallons of Agent Orange. Worked good in the jungle and is still working on me.

I don't know about weeds but I washed a paint brush off beside my house with mineral spirits and the next day the grass was dead looking.....It may be worth a try.....Dan

Well, Dan, I'm sure even Mineral Spirits would kill the weeds, grass and everything and so would paint thinner, but that is a lot like gasoline and dangerous to use! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
