[attachment 171257 barber-merc005.JPG][attachment 171258 barber-merc007.JPG][attachment 171259 barber-merc009.JPG]Coincidence comes into to play this week. Dropped my daughter off at the airport bound for New Orleans for her final semester of college (we hope..lol ) Within two hours I recover my second Barber dime ever and my first O mintmark - 1898-O. Tough recovery with dry soil and lodged near pine tree root at 5-6 inches...reading 37-38.Nice '36-D mercury along with a small unidentified foreign coin, male profile facing to the right,, Any help id'ing it would really be appreciated... difficulty posting pics..

Nice finds kschae4, would love to find a barber. Hope it made you feel better after dropping your daughter off. Had you hit this place before?
Bunker

Thanks Bunky- Indeed it did. I have hit it about 10 times in two yrs. First half dozen or so with the Land star and best find then was a 46 nickel . Couple of months ago recovered a 42 mercury and a 1919 wheatie with the Safari near the Barber...

Amazing how you can hit something again and find something you know you went over before! Nice job.

Kschae4,

Congratulations on your coins finds.

Found another silver ring. Not real diamonds,
but I'm getting better at finding rings.

Bunky- Agreed, I'm alot more patient and slower running with the Safari then I had been with the Land star.

Regis- Congrats on the ring. Did you happen to notice if it id'd as silver or it's tid (38,39 ?) at time of recovery. I'm finding that none of my silver coins in coin, c& j mode show as silver on the display...but then I haven't set up customer programs either.. wouldn't think that I need to

Thanks Elton !

The silver ring ID'd at #30 in 5" of dry fresh-water sand, using the default coin and jewelry mode
plus I now have 119 coins, mostly clad and a few silver ones and the other ring also ID'd at #30
in the last 5 days of detecting. I just got lucky with my new Safari. Great machine.
I wiggle the 11"DD coil ( from Andy Sabisch's Book ) so that I center the target and using my Garrett Pro-pointer it
doesn't take me long to find the target.
I have competition from 3 other metal detectorests on this fresh water lake beach, so I start at 6:00 am to get a head-start
on the competition. They are not using any Minelab detectors, so sometimes I find coins, etc. that they missed.
They seem to be in too much of a hurry. I swing my coil at a fairly slow pace and swing wide and overlap in a methodical
pattern on the Beach or in a park instead of just roaming around.
I have found a lot of coins and junk jewelry with my Omega 8000, but this Safari goes a little deeper and is
more quiet. I Noise Cancel every 1/2 hour and every time I change my settings.
I really like this Safari.
