Hit the ball field today (missed ya Warthog)...a new first for me...

Pete in MI

New member
I love this old ball field! I found a nickel, 3 Wheaties, a couple of Memorial pennies (and  a quarter in my pouch - guess I missed pulling it out from a previous hunt).

Found a few odds and ends...metal end off a spark plug wire, metal band from a wooden pencil, and a couple other 'whatchacallits'.

The Wheat pennies were: 1927, 1945 and a 1950 (my birth year)

My new 'first' was the nickel:

Its my first ever 1944 P War Nickel (P is over Monticello)....and not in bad shape either.

Some reason I kept hearing the low tones more than the high silver ones...since I didn't fine any silver maybe that is why

I tried to wait for ya Warthog but yer out there riding yer motor sickle  instead of digging dirt with me. Miss ya buddy.

War nickels are 35% silver! That is why they look nice! Dude we all count them in our silver count! Congrats on the silver! :)

Yes, Pete, that's a silver war nickel and I was always happy to find one....even 35% silver is better than none! Mike beat me to it....but reafirmed what I was thinking!

Hope ya find more.....So go get em and Happy Hunting! Good Luck & God Bless!

great finds, Pete!

Glad to say I am closer to "1945" wheatie than to that "1927 " wheatie
