Hit the beach this weekend...

On Saturday there were lots of people in the water and the weather was perfect. I used the CZ-20 for the first time in a long time and ventured into the deeper water (knees to hips). Fighting waves is a chore and there's a knack to using a P handled water scoop (which I got after having a wave drive the sharp SS scoop into my ankle). It's something you only do once and learn from it  I'm surprised I didn't attract any sharks. Unfortunately, other than a junk gold earring, some clad and assort junk, I didn't find much. Speaking with a couple of other people, I wasn't the only one...

This morning I went to the north shore to catch the low time. Decided to use the Exp II and not water hunt. Once again, not much at all. Probably should have hit the water with everyone else (there were about 4 or 5 people in the water). Oh well...

Did see a nice sunrise and took a couple of shots of someone water hunting:

HH!

Glad you got the CZ wet. Maybe next time it will do better for you. A little compretition I think is good - but not too much competition.
Congrats Joe on what you did find...and that sunrise is definitely a find. Thanks for sharing it.

That gold is there just waiting for ya! :)

How do you get your pictures you post so big. I always get a note saying there to large and I keep making them smaller and when they do work their only about 3" X 3"

I was at Sunken Meadow State park which is on the north shore on the long island sound. No waves. It's mostly a gravel / sand beach and it's perfectly clear. Even up to your hips you can see the bottom. It's harder to dig that just sand. If you happened to have dropped your ring in the water, I believe you would be able to find it since it wouldn't sink as fast as if it were sand.

Now Jones Beach is another story. It's a rarity to find it very calm. I don't go out too far because the rip just wants to suck you out to Davy Jones' locker. :) I always try to make the negative tide someplace. Fortunately, when it's high tide on the south shore it's low tide on the north. I put a lot of miles on my van this past weekend :)

Out of curiosity, do you have the 8" or the 10" coil on the CZ20? What can you run the sensitivity at? I always run mine in autotune and flip the knob to "0" to ID it.

Mike,

It's not the ocean... it's actually the Long Island sound; the body of water between Long island and Connecticut. No waves. I'll take some pics soon of the ocean side I hunt about 10 minutes from where I live. The other beach is about 20 miles.
