Horseshoe Bay Gives Up the Gold Again!!

I got out for the low tide this afternoon at 2:30 which was full on low by the time I hit the beach. (I took the Princess shopping and it ran a little late, but a Pirate has to keep his wench Happy, if you know what I mean;))
There were beach volleyball players, sun worshippers, beach walkers, frisbee throwers and even a few crazy expats and tourists going into the water. (but only one pirate) The wind was out of the NW so there was just a gentle swell and after a quick look right and left to size up the beach I hit the water. I got out deep fast because the tide was on the move and I hadn't gone ten steps before I hit a good tone but it came up a copper screw. Ten more steps and a really staticy tone but with traces of something good so I started digging, the deeper I went the better it sounded. At around a scoop and a half deep I lost the tone but was relieved to find a nice, 14k gold wedding band in the bottom of my scoop. (it took me a while to dig this one as I was out chin deep and the swells kept throwing me off target, plus bouyancy becomes a problem at that depth, sure wish I was 6'6")
After that I had a rocket go off in my headphones with a high clear tone, so I figured a silver bracelet but it was the Niagara Falls keychain in solid brass.(people come from all over to Bermuda, God bless the ones who leave behind souvenirs, especially gold)
The rest of the hunt was no great shakes as the tide had turned and I was pushed farther and farther back towards shore.

Here's the Loot:

That's All Folks,

No, Bud and Lou didn't originate the "Niagara Falls" (a.k.a. "Slooowly I Turned") routine; it is an old burlesque bit. As A&C screenwriter Harry Crane explained in the book, Abbott and Costello in Hollywood, "That [routine] is a burlesque classic; all the comics knew it, and there were even several different versions of it." That's why the Stooges were able to do the "Niagara Falls" version of the routine in their short, "Gents Without Cents," while Bud and Lou did the "Pokomoko" version in their film, "Lost in a Harem." Both films were playing in movie theaters late in 1944! Years later, Bud and Lou did the "Niagara Falls" version with Sid Fields in the "Jail" episode of the team's TV series. That's on Vol. 7 of of "The Abbott and Costello Show" released by Shanachie Home Entertainment and available from Abbott and Costello Collectibles.
