Hot Rock Question

peterinaust.

New member
I have only been in the hobby a short time. My question is what is a hot rock? While detecting on the beach today
I got a signal that hit hard in the right hand top corner of the smart screen and 00 31 on the digital screen, my first thought was another silver ring but it was a rock!? So is this my first hot rock?? Thanks in advance for any replies.
Peter in Aust.

I am now in upstate NY and the ground is paved with hot rocks 00-31's everywhere but silver too so you just have to go slow and listen carefully

When you get used to them you will know by the high pitched tone and digital readout what they are. Hot rocks have a distinctive squeaky tone.

The hot rocks I have been finding in the farms here, come in strong, just like silver, but when it's swept in pinpoint, they barely respond. At least thats the response I get locally. Your results may vary :).

First by the replies here. Hot rocks can very by area.
And second. We can all come up with a way to ID them for the most part.
