Hot rocks and PI's

I'm hoping someone can help me solve a problem. An area I want to search has numerous hot rocks and basalt rock outcrops. Normal VLFs suffer severe cutback if the can be used at all, best result so far with Minelab Advantage. I thought a PI would be able to function, but me Beachscan just beeped at them all, so I tried a non motion home made pulse, but again it reacted to the large rocks even at the highest pulse delay setting. Is there a machine that can handle these old volcanic rocks? I was thinking the Minelab SD/GP might be up to the task any views much appreciated.
Also does anybody have any experience/views on the Pulse III made in Germany, spec similar to Lorenz, but much cheaper.

If you are not after small targets then the Minelab SD2000 or SD2200 will be best, with a DD coil.
The GP may even be better but, might be a bit overkill if you arn't looking for nuggets.

All good PI's detect basalt. However, you can commonly distinuish them by raising the coil. According to my P I library notes(you guys should use search here more often)-Eric Foster Rerospecting with P I's June 18,2000. Scott-Some GQ notes June 8, 2003 Reg Re: DD coil and Hotrocks July 15,2003 have good references to basalt.

Hi,
I agree with Goldenboy. I've pulled gold nuggets out of basalt bedrock with no problems with the Minelab GP Extreme and GP 3000. My Garrett Infinium was also up to the task. Other PI units do not ground balance and so signal on basalt.
