Hot rocks in Oahu Hawaii

I took the Vision to an area that has hot rocks in the wet sand. I used the salt beach mode with RX = 15 and turbo boost on. I found that going over a hot rock from soft ball to bowling ball size. The Vision would some times make a small sound the first time as I passed the coil over the hot rock. Sometimes a faint sound on the return sweep and then no more response from the hot rock. Friday, I will go into the water and see what happens then when going over hot rocks. But I must say that I was impressed with how the Vision handled the hot rocks. When I use my Aquastar, I have to move every hot rock to be sure that there is not a good target under the hot rock.

I to do notice that the D2 coil will sound off when you bump something with the coil.

Hi Terry,

I really respect your opinion and am waiting to hear what you have to say. You live in a very tough detecting environment. Hot rocks, salt water, and electrical interference. I'm somewhat amazed you could get any functionality at RX of 15 with TX Boost on.

I really believe in pushing metal detectors real hard while testing them. I was not dressed to go into the water today as I was heading to the military bases to do some shopping for food. But Friday, I will do some testing using the salt beach mode to see what happen when going over hot rocks in the ocean water. I also want to try modifying the prospecting mode for hunting the dry sand. What MikeinSF did in making charts to show the settings in the different preset modes will sure help me to decide what I want to experiment with.
