Hot Rocks? Need some help

At a site I was hunting recently, I got several beautiful high tones with my XS. All three registered up in the silver dollar range and sounded great in all directions. All 3 turned out to be stones. 2 of which were the size of my hand, and the third was a massive boulder. IS there anything I can do about this, or do I just have to live with it? I'm obviously not about to discriminate them out, but I'm obviously not about to NOT dig them. IT's depressing to dig 8" though only to find a large stone.
Thanks...Wess

that's wild!never had that happen.where did they hit on the screen?i sometimes get good tones that don't hit in the upper right and if they're shallow i ignore them.could be i'm seeing them too but i just don't dig them.

Hey Jim. They hit in the very top right corner. I'm still learning this machine, so I may be doing something a little off, but I certainly don't think I am. Maybe there is silver in them rocks!? *hah*

I get a lot of good signals that turn out to be hot rocks. They are about the size of golf balls here in Germany but I hunt mostly fields so they get broken up into that size. I have the biggest problem when it is very wet with hot rocks, that might be your problem as I think it is very wet where you are now. I'm using the White's XLT when these problems occur. I think it will get better as it drys out for you. My Fisher CZ7A loves nails when they are wet or even damp. But, I think I'll be hunting a 1504 battle field soon, the Fisher will do great here. I think you better learn to live with it. They are not going to say, here comes Wess, move out of his way.how would you know what they are before you dig?

also hot rocks here have a different tone as you come onto and leave the hot rock
its not a smooth target sound...
On a ML for example for me they have a like washout tone... fades when I go over them
not a sweet or sharp or crisp tone at all.. just STRONG <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
pinpoint and you dig enough you will now them well after a few hundred ... <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> really you can learn to ID them in time and not doubt its a hotrock
keep at it and check them tho till you do learn them <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
