Hot Rocks

Here in NM I do some of my hunting in the Manzano Mtns. Several places I go have highly mineralized soil and hot rocks( rocks with a lot of iron). One
source I read said that the presence of hot rocks increases the possibility of gold, not a guarantee, however. Does anyone know this to be true?

I've heard an old saying before..."Gold sometimes rides an iron-horse!" You have it right...hot rocks and iron are a good indicator of the possibility of gold but not a guarantee. Was this area ever known to produce gold in the past? Best of luck and HH!

In reference to my earlier post about hot rocks, can anyone recommend a website with more information about hot rocks?
