How about Daytona Beach?

I hunt New Smyrna on a regular basis. If you hunt late in the day a good place to hunt is the beach that is downtown just south of The Breakers restaurant. This part of the beach seems to always have many people because of the easy access to the bathrooms. I have found rings, coins, jewelry and other "stuff". I have also hunted in the water and have never had a bad encounter with a shark. Most of the bites are near the inlet where the surfers are. I have seen them swim by me and have seen them swim along the edge of the water near shore. I have caught many black tips from the surf. Finding long lost stuff is very hard on this beach due to the massive amounts of fill they brought in a few years ago after erosion from storms washed most of the sand out to sea. Still, you never know what someone may lose, its why we hunt !!!

Thanks for the updates fellas. I went back to the dirt yesterday and found quiet a bit of clad, and a couple of other interesting items. I haven't given up on the sand but the dirt gave it up for me. It does seem that the public access points are where its at this time of year. DaytonaGold, thanks for the update on the park. What is the update on the track? You can e-mail me with any updates. Thanks, Bob

Hunted a stretch of beach around the North Turn Grill on the advice of a fellow detectorist I met this morning at Sunsplash. Real interesting fella to talk with and he was using a DFX. Anyway I ran about a hundred yds of beach and got three hits, two pieces of can slaw and what appeared to be a tie rod off an old auto. I then went back to my dirt patch and found another $4.68 cents in change with a Sacagewean dollar coin being the big coin. I found a gold earring with a stone in it and an unknown Mercury dime. Judging from the color and condition of that Mercury I had better clean up my other coins. All total I probably found 40 dimes,I haven't counted the quarters, nickels, pennies yet. I also found an unknown date Standing Liberty quarter. I very seldom find those back home. Well, I'm going back to Ole' Virginny tomorrow. Its been fun and the weather has been great. The sand was a little stingy with me but the dirt paid off in my opinion.Good Luck fellas and I shall return.

DaytonaGold, I'm heading back to Virginia tomorrow so I want be hunting anymore this time. The place I've been hunting in my opinion probably holds alot more silver that my ATP wouldn't reach. I got alot of good faint signals but didn't dig them. I'm sure your CTX would bring them up. If my hunting buddy was here with his E-Trac,who by the way now has a CTX would have been pulling more silver than me. Anyway I would have enjoyed hunting with you, maybe next time. If you will e-mail me I will give you the location as long as you promise to tell me what you find.

PM'd you, no reply. Went to North Turn and only a buck in change,I have yet to find any silver with this machine :(
