How can you tell the frequency of a coil?

TGIF, everyone!

I'm negotiating to buy a used X-Terra 70, and the seller has a 6" round coil that comes with the detector. I asked him if it was DD or concentric, and what the khz rating was...and he doesn't know. Is there any way that he can connect the coil and determine whether DD or concentric, and determine what the khz rating is? Thanks for any help that you can give!

Yep. It's easy too.
With the machine turned on, push the menu chevron button, then press and hold the accept/reject button.
A 7.5kHz concentric will display cS,
a 3kHz concentric will display cL,
and an 18.75kHz concentric will display cH.

The DD coils will be the same, except the small "c" will be replaced with a small "d".

That's a good piece of Info

Also, if the serial number sticker is still on it, it will have either an L, an M, or an H prefix letter.

I am pretty sure the 6" only comes in a dd configuration and is also waterproof.

The 6-inch DD is 18.75 kHz and the 6-inch concentric is 7.5 kHz. Both are waterproof. HH Randy
