?...How did you come to find the settings that work best for you?

I worked first with the tones to see where i got the best seperation and longest sounds for my hearing on deeper targets. I wanted this because tones are your best way at depth to seperate targets. Next i checked depth at various settings... now this changes for me. Sometimes manual sensitivty works better than auto. I never was one for modulation so i like my gain at 9. In most cases i use fast and deep off because of a little longer sound you get. I move slow enough that im not missing as many targets as you may think. I do air check occassionally to get some indication as to how deep i may be detecting especially in auto sensitivity. If you can keep your depth and seperation you normally are doing as well as possible. The main thing for me was to learn what each setting did, make adjustments and work with them for awhile. I dont play with my settings a lot unless i feel its just not working. If i travel i do have to make adjustments for those conditions. Learn your machine... how ever you set it up. The key to finding consistantly good items is use what works for you and stick with it. No matter how rediculous it may sound to others it works for you.

I went to the factory settings, and then started playing with a deep buried silver dime till I could hear it to my satisfaction. When I can hear a silver dime well at almost 10 inches down I'm happy.:smoke:

by messing with gain...sensitivity...manual/semi auto....variability...fast...deep...fast off...deep off...etc...until I found what sounded good to me in my soil.
