How do they work in ohio soil? What depth do you get?Do thry work at the beach?

Fred, they work very well in the Ohio soil that I've hunted so far. I've used it in ground that balanced between mid 50's to the mid 80's and varying low to medium iron mineralisation. Almost all of the situations have been in significant to heavy trash of varying types. This detector is kind of hard to describe because most everything works so well together, especially once it "clicks". To use a racing analogy, a lot of times the guy with slightly less power can keep from spinning the tires as easily and winds up getting better results. I've followed flattrack motorcycle races for years and IMO, the Omega and its siblings are sort of like the Harley XR-750. Not necessarily the most horsepower all the time but a few unique design dynamics makes it easier to maintain better handling and traction yielding superior results. Depth claims are so subjective to locale and conditions, but I can tell you that I've heard and dug a lot of coins in the 8 to 10" range and a few beyond that even. That is not to say any coin to 10+ inches is dead meat with an Omega or any other detector for that matter. There are rare times when a coin quite a bit shallower will sound weak and it winds up not being on edge. I've actually taken the time to double check some of those targets with several detectors and it sounds as weak or weaker with all of them. I do feel the manner in which the Omega achieves its objective with it's ease of operation, audio characteristics, speed, power, and unmasking ability, makes it my detector of choice for daily usage around here and I have a lot of other detectors in my arsenal. I plan to try it in extreme hot dirt later this fall and with the proper coil, don't foresee any problems. I've not had it to a saltwater beach if that is what you're referring to. Since it has no problem manually balancing to salt, it should perform at least similarly to the several other FT VLF products that do the same while still providing its relative ease of operation and set up to achieve success.
