How do ya take a good digital photo of coins?

I get pretty close to the subject, use lots of light, experiment with different colored backgrounds. If you are shakey holding the camera at all then pile up some books so you can rest the camera & your hands on top when you shoot. I have a little 6 inch tripod that attaches to my camera and it adjusts up & down. I frequently use stark white as a background.

Here's my photo setup I bought online for about 65 bux. I dont always use it - sometimes I go outside in the sunlight for clearer shots. steve in so az

With a good eye and a good camera!
I am picky so sometimes it takes several pics to get what I want.
I always use a macro setting and sunlight is the best light, but not always available whaen I shoot.
many times I hold the coin and tip it till it looks just right then click. Sometimes that is with no flash.
Call if ya need help. :)

Have an Kodak Easy Share and just bought Joan a new Cannon. Don' t know if they have macro setting, but will try your ideas. Do not know how to control the flash except to tape over flash.

Look at the small botton on the back. If ya see a little flower then that is the macro setting.

if it is a decent camera at all it should have both options of macro and the option to turn flash on or off. I use natural sunlight to take pics, whenever sun has gone down and I need to take a pic, I am never happy with the photo, seems it just does not look as good.
