I just need some help getting a 1946 back to its original color, currently its brown.

Scrub the hell out of it, tumble it, do whatever it takes...I don't think it has much more value than a 2012 nickel.

Actually, coin trackers says it could be worth between $0.45 and $7.00 depending on condition. I still don't think it has any actual practical value, though, I was recently in a coin shop and they gave me a '52 nickel, which coin trackers said could be worth between $1.35 and $4.00. If there were actual value there, they probably wouldn't have given it to me.

Hmmmm well I collect older nickels so it has some value to me but I don't want it brown lol

Soak it in ketchup. I have a buddy that does that.

I've tried moistened baking soda but no bueno lol ketchup tonite

I'm trying the ketchup tonight, yeah noone eats ketchup in my house so it took a while to get some lol, I'll let you know what happens

My friend did it to some buffaloes and it took all the purple off of them. I think he just soaked them a few minutes or an hour or two. I would have to call him and ask. Let me know the results.

Try baking soda with a little water to make a paste.

The ketchup over night worked!
