How do you tell the difference

D&P-OR

Well-known member
in these two coils (5" DD Omega & 5" DD T2).-----They look identical & have the same Tek logo.----Do they have a different coil cable to box connector?---------Del

That is a good question. I have the t2 5 inch coil but not the one for the omega. I wish I could help. I guess if I do buy the one for the omega I should mark it somehow to tell the difference.

Is there a number on them or something?

No number on them (serial number)!----Same goes for the 11" DD coil for the T2 & Omega---they look exactly the same, have the Tek logo on them & have no S/N on them.----With the T2 operating at 13 khz & the Omega at 7.8 khz, they CERTAINLY aren't interchangeable (even if they have the same cable connector).---At least not interchangeable for optimum performance.-----So how do you tell the difference in them (by just looking), or know for sure you are getting the right one when you purchase them later as auxillary coils, OR keep from getting them mixed up once you have purchased the things?? (other than by markeing them yourself once you get them).-----It's the same deal for the F-75 & Omega 11" DD & 5" DD coils---but at least with them you have the Fisher & Tek logos on them for I.D.----I'm surprised this question hasn't come up way earlier.----Am I missing something here?----Somebody HELP!!! ----------Del

I went through this very subject last week with First Texas. Their response was " The T2 coils are produced with a T2 label in the top of the coil, and the Greek series coils have a Teknetics label.

i must be special as i have a serial number on the top of my 5" dd coil for the T-2..............bought it when they first came out from kellyco.........

Well that's good news.---They must have changed the way they "mark" those coils then.---I know one thing, it sure has caused a lot of (I.D.) confusion.---------Del
