How does the E-trac compare to the F 75

HI, All:

Ive been a dedicated F 75 user for over two years and have done well with it. However, I don't see any forum showing silver, and lots of it, being dug like I see here on the E-trac forum. I'm sure some of you have compared the two machines. I'm concerned about the weight of th E-trac, as I'm a 65 year old digger with arthritis in my shoulders. Outside of that, how do the two machines compare as far as depth, recovery speed and overall performance.

Thanks, and keep on diggin'

Good question ?,I've always been impressed with the F75 series and understand that the performance is supposed to be outstanding.I've held the 2 side by side and there is no comparison as far as weight goes. The 75 is like a feather compared to the Minelab. There are ways to offset this but certainly something to consider.

Ive never had the pleasure of trying the F75..From what i read and see..They are very lite to handle,They have some of the fastest recovery speed out there. Why they Dont have the results on silver like the E-Trac im not sure..If weight is an issue..You will need a swingy thingy ..Im 40 and my arm gets sore at times if Im not careful with my swing. If you can get by the weight im sure you will be happy with the E-Trac..You will need to get used to swinging ALOT slower than you are used to.Good Luck...HH

I have had the SE, and have the e-trac and 2 f75 well saying that the the e-trac is ok but heavy and found some silver coins with it , the ID is better then the SE's ID ( faster) . The f75 found a lot of clad and some silver coin . the litter 3x7 coil is very good in the trash and the ID is the fastest I have every seen. The SE is better on silver coin because of the high tone on silver it will call you attention to it but the ID is slow. On the e-trac I have only had it for about 3 Mo. and do have to work with it more, the f75 about 2yrs. , the SE I had for about 1 1/2 yrs...

Corvette=Gremlin. I started with an Explorer II that was sick and didn't know it, so if I hunted virgin house sites I found a few coins but to go to a beat up park and find anything was next to impossible. After a year and a half of frustating hunting I got the F75 and sold the II. I was in heaven. Hunting old house sites in the crop fields produced a lot of coins and artifacts with the F75 but hunting the old parks was limited due to poor ID and iffy depth meter. Last year after watching all the great finds made on these websites by the Minelabs I bought a used XS on Ebay and thought I'd use it just for parks and to have a backup. Then this spring I got the Pro coil followed by the 10X12 SEF. After doing so well with the XS I bought the SE and then the Etrac. Needless to say I'm fully addicted! In the 2 years with the F75 I found 36 indians, 11 silvers, 8 large cents and a lot of relics at the house sites. Since June 1st of this year I've found 45 injuns, 38 silver, too many wheats to count, 2 gold rings, tokens and all from parks I've hammered to death for 37 years. Will the Etrac work as well in the house sites? Jury's still out on that one but so far the one house site I've tried it's been a winner. As far as weight the swingy thingy has totally cured that. The F75 even wore me down after several hours.
So, personally I think the Etrac will do everything the F75 will do with much better depth and triple the ID and has twice the capabilities in the coin hunting part of detecting. I have enough confidence in the Etrac that I have sold all the other detectors and have no regrets. Using Bryce's settings on the Minelabs and the Pro and SEF coils has added new excitement that I can remember having back in the early 70's.
Voicing one's opinion can be a little touchy here so please don't shoot at me. Jim

I've had the Etrac for a year now and the F75 about 10 months. The Etrac is the the coin machine for sure in parks and does well for relics in pasture but not so well on plowed ground. The F75 in my opinion is the relic machine. It has lightning fast recovery, can be swung alot faster, still has the depth and has a great motion all metal. I have found some deep coins with the F75 in parks but in my opinion it does alot better in other enviroments.

I have a F70 with the 75 coil and a Etrac. I tend to agree with the comments but my experience seems to be as John TN.

I had an F75 for a while but never could really find much silver with it. Found lots of relics, buttons etc and some were pretty deep but I was searching for coinage and my buddy with an SE was smoking my butt everytime we went out. I sent my F75 in because it was acting up and my buddy had got an etrac. He let me use it as he was still using the SE. In the week the F75 was gone, I found as much silver as I had all year. The F75 went for a trade in and I havent looked back. I hit a park recently that appeared to have been recently hunted (due to multiple shallow plugs) and pulled out 8 wheaties in an hour and a half. The etrac is the only machine I will ever use. TMAN...

Thanks for all your replies. Very informative. I'd like to see an E-Trac work, and handle it myself.
