How does your Teknetics T-2 match up against the Minelab X-terra 70?

Have any of you had much experience with the Minelab X-terra 70? How does it perform compared to the T-2 as far as depth, sensitivity and ease of use. The T-2 probably has a lot faster processor. I know that with the X-terra 70 you can change between three frequencies by adding the different coils. I'm considering both detectors. I had decided on the Fisher F75, but I'm reading of quite a few people that are having some problems with it on the Fisher forum. I'm anxious to get out hunting and don't really want to wait a long time for them to work the bugs out of the F75. I'm new to this hobby and don't have a detector yet. I will be mostly be coin hunting, but I would like to do some relic hunting and gold prospecting occasionally. I would like to hear from anyone on the X-terra.

Thanks, John

Hi John,

I tried the X-70 for a few months and enjoyed the detector, It's a good unit for several different types of hunting.

I'm more of a relic hunter and I did noticed the T-2 having an edge over the X-70 regardless which coils I used on the X-70, I won't go into details but will say the T-2 is one hard detector to beat.

The majority of the time I will be coin hunting, but I want a really good all around detector. I would like to try some relic and gold nugget hunting as well.

Allot of good folk who sold the T-2 are going to regret letting go what may be one of the best relic detectors on the planet.

Take care Buckeyebrad :)

And watch how fast all the company yes men who got the free ones jump all over you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They call the t-2 and f-75 just new bounty hunters- and whine so much they got my friend cannonball removed from posting--

Yes, I have been reading the entries on the X-terra forum. They have some real live ones on that forum. I read Cannonball's comments and thought they were totally uncalled for. This is a fun hobby and there are a lot of very experienced people on here that are nice enough to share what they know. There is no reason to be attacking people like that.

Hi all, John you already know most of my feelings from the PM's. I now own a T2 and an X70. Not even close to an expert on either. I do know that I like both machines a great deal and feel like each was worth every penny. The T2 is everything good I have heard here and more. FAST, DEEP, and ACCURATE. It sets up fast and is fun to learn. From what I've experienced so far, the X70 is a little slower to "lock" on a keeper but once you spend a little time with it, the good signals are obvious. The seventy's prospect mode is a lot of fun and it is hot on small gold.

OK, I feel better now that I have confessed to being with more than one detector. Not sponsored, not a dealer, nothing to gain other than enjoying time out with a couple of good machines. Get your hands on both for a demo if you can. If not, call me since we're in the same town and I'll bring mine out for you to try.

Have a good Easter Weekend everyone and thanks for all the great reading!

Mike

You must forgive aliens like cannonball I'm not sure how long its been since he was released from the mental asylum.
Cheers!

Mike,

I am really looking forward to our getting together for a hunt. My son was here from California over the weekend. I let him use my T2 while I used my Explorer II. When I found a deeper target (in the 6" range) with the Explorer he checked it with the T2. He could not get a response. I am starting to feel that there is something wrong with my T2. I hope to compare our T2s against one another to determine if my T2 is functioning properly.

HH,
Glenn

Hi Glenn- I'd also like to compare results. I'll PM with some dates. My wife and I were able to get out a little this week. We checked each other's targets to see how the Teknetics and Minelab compared. We found that the machines tend to agree on target ID, depths, and pinpointing. When I have run into multiples, it has been a little easier for me to sort them out with the T2.
