are you usin an airgun scope ?
Unless the scopes today are different, a standard rifle scope cannot handle the recoil of an airgun.
This could be yer problem.

..... make one of these squirrel hats, have him wear it on while he's driving around the lumberyard on his fork lift .... you can practice shooting off the hat.
