How many of you dig Good One way signals?

I always do....pull silver and wheats plenty of times. Biggest myth in metal detecting is that one way targets are trash and that you need to circle a target.

I dig lots of one way signals, a lot of those good finds are laying in the ground where they only give signals, least ways, good signals in only one way of the swinging of the coil. That's why the really true die hard hunters walk a grid in one direction, the goes back and walk from the other direction. They make more finds that way due to those objects only giving one way signals. I sometimes will check some areas that way if I think there are good finds there but are in the ground in ways that are hard to detect in just the one direction. Hope you can understand how I've explained this. HH mcuch

I agree with TheHunterGT but I do make a half turn to hit a target from 2 directions most of the time. I don't have much choice if I'm out hunting for silver in clad. Steel core clad around here is common and will never give a good signal in 2 directions (with any detector that I have used at least).

The main reason why I do 2 different directions is just to see if the good signal is still present when I turn 90 degrees. If it varies very little from the original direction it is almost certainly a good target (non ferrous, no alloy). If it varies a lot from one direction to another it is usually junk BUT I've pulled out good masked targets on several occasions. I think it pays to investigate but others would consider it a waste of time.

It really depends on what kind of hunting that I am doing. If I am looking for silver at an older site, I dig lots of iffy signals and have been rewarded many times. If I am at a newer site, I usually only dig good two way signals that are identifiable.

and really work the pinpoint mode to see if its possible something else might be adjacent, and normally dig it-cannot tell you how many times a nail was to the side.
If you are finding a goodie 1/5 of a time its worth the effort.
(If its an area that produces really old stuff I run the very lowest of iron disc, no notches and use Δ pitch in tones-my old Mk-1 sorta spoiled me.)

Coins that are deep(6" to 9") will only give a one way signal most of the time so I actually like getting that type signal, here in WV that's where the silver is hiding. With my F5 the signal will be faint and weak when the coins are deep and 90% of the time just one way.

I dig quit a lot of one way targets. Most are at fringe depth. If it hits hight tone one way & iron the other with out double beeping I'll dig it. A lot of the time it'll give a vdi with the high tone & not show anything with the low tone. If it's iron it'll give a vdi number while giving a low tone. This is with my F19. HH
