How many of you guys use Full Tones and 0 discrimination ?

Personally I really like using Full Tones, not only for target identification but for getting an "Audio Map" of whats under my feet. Some people say it's to noisy, which I can understand if you are new to the Deus.
Even if you dont like hunting in Full Tone you can still use it to tell you where to hunt by using the audio feedback to find hot spots.

This short video will give you a quick example.
XP Deus - Advantages of using the Full Tone feedback

im glad you asked that cant wait to see what they have to say about it. Ive been using it but ive only hunted 3 times with my machine cant wait till I can get to that zen moment where me and the machine are one!

I use full tones but find I get a better "read" on the ground under my feet by running my discrimination at 1.0. Knocks out the ground minerals and quiets things down a bit......but allows for truer picture of the iron as it is easier to hear.

I run it quite a bit.

Running full tones 0 disc or super low disc,,,this gives takes away a lot of those signals,, vs running say disc 0 and 2,3,4, or 5 tones,,, where the high tones can come in and rock back and forth with horseshoe switching sides-- some of these targets that are toggling back and forth using disc 6 say with 2,3,4 or 5 can be nonferrous targets,,,,but due to the toggling op might walk thinking ion,,using full tones 0 or extremely low disc-- this will sniff out these rockers I call them out better.

It's not everyone's cup of tea but I am a fan of Full Tones, 0 Disc. Use it most of the time. Actually, soon as I started using Full Tones, 0 disc, I had one of those "aha" moments with the Deus. Everything started making sense and I knew that the Deus was the machine for me.

Recently I tried 0 Disc but I've used Full Tones since the v3 release. I usually Notch 00-10 or 00-20 in 4Khz, which helps with the foil bits where I hunt. Haven't seen much difference in both the Horseshoe operation with 0 Disc vs 2.0 Disc, as 00-02 is notched anyway, so I get ZERO iron grunts. However, more recently I've had an adjacent 8khz program that is "wide open" and has Iron Vol at 1. I use this for deep and/or co-located signals - running in 4kHz will ID deep non-ferrous items vs deep iron better than the other freqs, but after switching to the adjacent 8 kHz program I get a better picture of what's in the ground on, or close to a non-ferrous "hit"

Last park hunt these were the programs I used:

4Khz
Sens 85
Full Tones
Disc 0
Reactivity 2
Silencer 0
Notch 00-20, 97-99
Iron Vol 0
Audio Response 4
Overload 1
Manual GB 85
Notch Ground 86-89

8kHz
TX 2
Sens 85
Full Tones
Disc 0
Reactivity 2
Silencer 0
Notch 00 AND 99 (01-98 unnotched!)
Iron Vol 1
Audio Response 4
Overload 1
Manual GB 85
Ground Notch 86-89

I haven't been able to use this 8kHz program to successfully differentiate shallow foil vs deep coins, but it DOES work well for deep iron targets. in 8Khz deeper iron "smears" and not unlike bottlecaps you can hit the edge of the target and it will be "clipped" moreso in this 8kHz mode if it's iron. Deep coins will taper off as you reach the signal edge - but if there's more than one coin under the coil all bets are off - there's no good way to ID. TO make matters worse, not all deep coins are clean hits - often I will find square nails, foil, and other stuff in the same hole that affects the audio quality. Many of these are "one-way hits" and on a cross-scan you will get nulling - and switching to the 8khz program will often indicate iron or something closeby that was notched in the 4kHz program.

This place will be ground zero when the new Deus coil and v4.0 are released, and I expect to pull even more goodies from it. So far, with the 9" coil vs the 11" coil I've pulled more deep keepers in a shorter amount of time than when I used the 11" Deus. Many of these targets are co-located, and going low and slow uncovers more and more even after sweeping the area multiple times. This place could keep me busy for YEARS!

i have had the Deus for 2 years now and pretty much figured out that running with 0 disc and full tones is the way to go for me. i hear everything better that way. it is way to noisy in some circumstances but there i just have to go real slow and concentrate on what i'm hearing.

I love full tones and zero disc.. I my situation, it is the best of all possible choices

Just started running full tomes 0 disc for my last 2 hunts. So far I like it I feel like I have a better understanding of what im hearing this way. Most of my swinging gets done in private yards so I may start notching 0-10 just to keep from digging nails all day.

Full tone works great amongst iron a lot of people run a high sensitivity and High TX Gain thinking this will give more depth, but it will give you "Audio Fruit Salad". Recently we have discovered TX gain1 and sensitivity 86 is the optimum power settings for badly contaminated area's.

glad you posted that since I have raised my tx to 2 on my trash program.

I love the feedback from the Deus , working on getting the hang of the full tones and 0 dis....still learning this MD and loving every minute.:detecting:

Full tones 0 disc user here. It took a while to get used to it but now I hunt solely this way.

Thanks Gary I had that exact problem last time I was out running full tones. I will give this a try and see how it does.

Pitch mode, full tones most of the time. Vary the Frequency! GB to ferrite.
