How many of you open up the top right in coin pattern?

I seen where it was missing some of the large silver because the upper right screen (stock)coin pattern was discriminated out. Hoe many of you open it up?
Thanks! Rick

Yes, most of the way. I still have the last few #'s on the 1 line blacked out. I am able to find my 'already found' silver dollars and halves but it has been a few years since I found BIG SILVER (halves and Dollars) in the field so I haven't really verified my settings with coins in context.

I have discussed this before on another forum. I run the stock coins pattern in semi heavy to heavy trash areas. It just seems to run smother in my area. Also I found a coin spill in one hole I found 2 walker halves,3 silver quarters, and 3 silver dimes. I had no problem finding it in the stock program because it must have had a small halo pushing the ferrous numbers higher. After this happened I wonder wouldn't even a silver dollar that has been in the ground awhile with any kind of depth push the ferrous number out of this category? I have always wondered this. It seems to make sense to me. When I hunt more open areas with little trash and coins are deep then I run a more open screen.

Rick,

The only Silver Dollar I've found, I would've missed because it hung right at 01-41 to 01-43 (mostly 43). It was on edge in very clean ground, not even iron right there, at 6". I caught that one on video.

I do for big silver

I use Andy's coin pattern and it seems to work really well. I have "Air" tested the stock coin pattern and have found it to miss large coins in the 01-44 area.

I have the upper right corner opened up also.

I don't get it if it is such a bad thing then why does minelab put it there? And how come I could find that big silver spill they say you can't find with the stock program? Maybe someone could explain it to a dummy like me. I havn't been detecting as long as most of you. I have only been at it 15 yrs.

....yep......got mine open from 01-38 to 01-48......we have silver crowns over here which are the same size as your silver dollars!

Gaz.

Who is telling you that a big silver spill will not register on the stock coin program? I keep the top right open 40 41 43 since the day I got the E trac...and found two silver 1 dollars with it like that. Even so the 2 HALF dollars I have found together read 12 48 and not on the top 1 line like the ONe dollar coins.

Also, DO NOT BELEIVE the air test talk not once has my E trac hit on a coin when air testing at the same depth as when I found it in the dirt when past 4 inches. The air test also does not establish the numbers as consistent either than as a coin in the dirt. To get an accurate test bury your coin in the dirt and give it time.

Coin spills are not always tight knit little blobs of coins, It is not just hitting the halo but will reflect the size of the coin or coins if nothing is bigger than a half then you should still only read the half 12 48 or if a dime and a half...then the half again.

burry it and try it. Just cause I found two dollars toghether in a pouch did not change the number from the size on just ONE of them. Now if you put all the dollars ive found in a jar the signall is ? You try it and see.

The stock coin pattern was not refined at all. They were up against the deadline to release the E-Trac and didnt really put the finishing touches on the patterns. And they didnt want to wait the extra month for Andy to give them workable patterns....So the story goes.
